ABOUT ME

I live in a village in rural India and work for a girls' development organization called Yuwa. We use football (soccer) and education to prevent child marriage and human trafficking.

I try to spend most of my time outside, can throw a frisbee pretty well, appreciate the company of cats, ride my bicycle to new places, and like to read the newspaper early in the morning.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't been able to host any CouchSurfers over the past few years, mostly because I lived in Conway, Arkansas, which is not a popular travelers' destination. Then I moved to a village in India, which is also not a hot spot for tourists.

I've participated in CouchSurfing as a traveler in Finland, Sweden, Utah, and India. I've always had extremely positive experiences with people I meet through Couchsurfing... it's an excellent resource for life-minded travelers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In December 2010, I Couch-surfed throughout Scandinavia - I met some remarkable individuals, was the recipient of true hospitality, and felt like I experienced the places I visited from a local perspective. I've also used Couchsurfing to connect with local people in Utah and India in order to get off the tourist circuit.

I can't imagine a more personable and enriching way to travel.

Interests

Hiking and biking, waitressing, writing and receiving letters, Ultimate frisbee, baking bread, exploring mountains and libraries, meeting new people, running, exploring the great damn state of Arkansas, riding in the back of pick-up trucks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode a mediocre bicycle all over Cambodia, climbed some mountains in Nepal, took a team of Indian girls from a village to compete in a football tournament in Spain.
