Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Using innovation and entrepreneurship to solve the world's problems. Oh, and I love to travel!
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Bangalore, India, and live in Washington DC now, but in between I've lived (for at least three months) in North Carolina, Sydney, Tanzania, New Delhi, Boston and Bogota - every continent but Europe and Antarctica. As a result, I feel more "global" than Indian. Probably the best thing my travels have given me is lots of experience in having great conversations.
I'm passionate about what I do (social entrepreneurship, with a focus on preventing violent conflict) but have too many other interests to be obsessive about it.
PHILOSOPHY
To leave the world better than I found it. And to have fun doing so (because it's actually really hard!)
Interests
Social entrepreneurship, books, hummable music, movies filled with clever conversation, travelling to new cultures (surprise!), cricket, tennis, football, dancing, cooking, writing, romance, international politics, history, wildlife, TED Talks, long deep conversations that explore what makes us tick.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Most things by Haruki Murakami, Salman Rushdie, Michael Ondaatje, Eric Fried. I grew up on Enid Blyton and Willard Price. Some other books I have absolutely loved are Invisible Cities, Cloud Atlas, The Beach, The Snow Leopard, Chasing the Flame, Emergency Sex, Team of Rivals. I'm pretty picky about what I read but every now and then something like Harry Potter or the Dragon Tattoo series will come along and totally captivate me.
Music: The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Buddy Holly....apparently the name has to have a B in it! I could go on but you get the picture: classic rock. Though I also love Latin music (Juanes, Shakira) and R&B.
Movies: I deeply love going to the movies, and really hope that the theatre doesn't go the way of the CD or the DVD-rental store. In general: Clever conversation/plot = two thumbs up; meaningless car chases and story-less movies copping out under the "it's art" excuse = two thumbs down.
TV: The West Wing, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, MI-5, Entourage, LOST, Friends. Still haven't gotten around to The Wire yet but it's next on the list.
