About Me

MY CURRENT GOAL

Explore, Learn, Teach, Enjoy.

MY PHILOSOPHY

Each day is a gift, use it. Have fun, Be respectful, Jump in.

ABOUT ME
I love history (another reason Europe is my choice besides the lack of need for a VISA) and nature and mostly people and music. My music taste is tricky to describe, it spans most genres and most eras. I love dancing though my ability probably doesnt reflect that, likewise with singing and drawing, and writing even though I'm terrible at spelling and don't use enough punctuation, or so my English teachers have always told me.
It's tricky to write this (I know I just said I love writing but not so much about me) as apart from my desire to go off and have new experiences, try new things and meet new people, I'm pretty boring at the moment as much as I try to make the best of it.

I feel like it's hard to get to know someone without actually talking to them.

THE GENERAL POINT IS I THINK I'M NICE, I CAN BE FUNNY, I DON'T MIND BEING LAUGHED AT AND I'M MORE THAN WILLING TO MAKE A FOOL OF MYSELF, I'LL TRY ANYTHING ONCE (EVEN IF I'M A BIT SCARED).

I want an adventure, I want a chance to live free and unemcumbered before coming home and settling down (if I don't decide to follow my parents and spend most of my life like that), and I hope I get to meet great people on here who'll let me into their homes and teach me about their city, their people and them.

My parents were New Age Travellers up until I started school but even then our bus was in the back garden, and our holidays involved a ferry to France and driving around wherever we felt like till school started again. The only relevance of this is that it's probably why I'm so keen to run away to Europe with no money in my pocket and see what happens, and why I'm hardly thriving in the small City (only by benefit of a Cathedral) that I live in. The best I have right now is working in hospitality so I get to meet a lot of different people but I'd like to expand on that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to travel, but I dont want to be a tourist, I want to really learn about the places I visit, from people who live there. I also want people to join in my journey, be a part of it and make it special. I don't want to stay in hostles the whole time, or be completly alone exploring, though I'll want those times too. I want to meet people I wouldn't normally meet, learn things I couldn't learn any other way, have the opportunity to help enrich their lives as they enrich mine (which sounds very corny) and most of all have fun and make friends!

Interests

I love climbing, absailing and sailing boats.
Dancing, partying and exploring.
History, architecture and reading.
Sitting in bars and cafes people watching.
Walking, talking and laughing.
And I'm sure there are many things I have yet to try, does trying new things count?

Music, Movies, and Books

If I shuffle my Ipod it could go from a bit of Frank Sinatra then the next song'll be the Clash moving swiftly to Adele, to the Raconturs, to Eminem, to System of a Down, to Bowling for Soup, to the Gorillaz, Cyndi Lauper, The Fray, The Killers, MGMT, Avicii, The Stranglers, Billy Joel, Green Day and Kirsty Macoll. And there's alot I havent listened to, or mentioned I don't want to go on for too long.

Movies is hard, I haven't seen half as many as I probably should. All time faves include; Pulp Fiction, My Fair Lady, Anastasia, Kill Bill, Django unchained, Titanic, Hercules, Troy, Step up, Beauty and the beast, Zombie movies, Silence of the Lambs (and the rest of hannibal lector), Lucky Number Sleven, Fight Club, The Breakfast Club, Snatch, Howl's Moving Castle, Trainspotting, In Bruges. Should probably stop there.

Katherine by Anna Seyton is probably my favourite, aside from that I like to read alot and from many genres but I have to admit I've slipped into easy reads though I'll always fall back The Chronicles of Narnia, Pride and Prejudice and The Secret Garden. I welcome suggestions of books to read when my head space isn't filled with work and petty home drama and I have the time to really settle down into a more challenging read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know if I've done many amazing things yet, kind of the point of all this but another of the reasons I want to be able to have locals show me around is this; on probably my last proper holiday (I road tripped Ireland last summer with my friend but it was only for a week, not nearly enough time we saw so little) when I was just 16 in Taggia, Italy though the beach we went to was in a different town whose name I don't remember, we befriended the lifeguard on this beach, he was called Ruben, and he took us out one evening. First we went to a tiny set menu resturant which was devine then went up into the mountains to an artist village and it was fantastic. The whole village was having a party in the streets, children, teenagers, parents older people, all together, all dancing, drinking just having fun. Probably one of the best experiences I've had so far.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can't teach much but anything I can I will, I have a fair bit of useless knowledge in my head.
I want to learn all I can.
I want to share experiences, fun, and adventure.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook a little, I will help with chores, a person whose polite and respectful, and hopefully soon I'll have lots of experiences to share. I'll be eager to learn about my hosts country, themselves, their city and their language. My biggest goal is to explore the places I visit with my host but I'm not afraid of exploring by myself or sitting and reading if they want space, I know we all want to be alone sometimes. I can help with peoples English if they need/want that, and I hope to be able to offer more further into my travels.
