About Me

ABOUT ME

I should have filled in the all about me box earlier, but sometimes it is quite hard to know where to begin when you are describing yourself!

I like chatting, meeting new people, my hobbies, my friends, travelling, learning a new thing or ten everyday, animals, going out, music, reading, the odd bit of TV on Sunday mornings, when people laugh at my jokes, laughing at other peoples jokes and having new experiences.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life because I was born. I do not have a general philosophy yet but I suppose I could guess what it is going to be when I am clever enough to finally figure it out by saying what I don't like;

Rudeness, injustice (legal and economic), racism, snobbery, any curtailment of basic human rights/press freedoms, inequality.

What I do like;

Being happy and seeing others happy. Feeling useful

If anyone can figure out my philosophy from the above feel free to write me a message. All reasonable suggestions will be considered.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couchsurfing but have heard all about it through fans of the organisation.

My boyfriend is a massive fan of couchsurfing and has had some great experiences hosting people.

Also when I was an intern in the Netherlands I got to go to a pleasantly random couch surfing party or two through friends and loved how couchsurfers tend to be openminded, international and really friendly.

At the moment I want to participate by showing visitors to Edinburgh the city, and perhaps going on the odd roadtrip…

Interests

I love travelling, and have been to many European countries, the USA, India and Nepal. There are so many places I want to go and so little time!

I also like horse-riding and cycling and the sense of freedom both give me.

Having lived in Scotland for a lot of my life pubs and socialising are major hobbies, and due to the dark weather indoor pursuits like films and going to exhibitions and generally trying to make myself less ignorant are a popular pass-time too. Occasionally when I feel like it I do a bit of drawing or take my camera out but I'm not as consistent as I would like to be!

I have just taken up touch rugby with work it is the first time I have played a team sport since school but I am enjoying it.

Music, Movies, and Books

100 Years of Solitude, The Master and Margarita, His Dark Materials, The Bell, Brideshead Revisited

Music: Kings of Leon, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Modest Mouse, Death in Vegas, Basement Jaxx, Muse, Radiohead, Fairport Convention, Goldfrapp, The Pixies, Kasabian, The Foo Fighters, Massive Attack, Arcade Fire, CSS, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, and no doubt some more dubious choices. I really need some musical eduction!

Movies:

Lots of foreign movies, to coincide with the love of travel and interest in other cultures. I really like Bollywood and I believe that the films normally fall into two categories; SO good they are great or so bad they are good, so it is normally a win win situation.

I also like really visual directors, like Tim Burton.

I like being told a good story.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people qbout Edinburgh and other parts of Scotland.

Although I dont have a scottish accent myself, I can help you understand Scottish slang (more necessary than you might think)!

I a native English speaker, so I am always happy to help non native speakers improve their english

I can help you survive a night out in the city of Edinburgh...
