ABOUT ME

I'm artistic, have a studio for painting. I'm sociable, like to eat out and go dancing; this city has live bands somewhere every night of the week. I sell advertising very part-time. I travel in July and December - the whole of these months, each year.

Oh, I forgot to say elsewhere, I don't drink alcohol so don't plan on partying at my place although I can get happy in a crowd at the bar.

PHILOSOPHY

Unapologetically irreligious, but look at the bigger picture - see the stars in the night sky to get the right perspective on things. I like a good conversation with people who are not totally self-centred.

"Always look on the Bright Side of Life" from Life of Brian, one of my very favorite songs and it covers just about all my personal philosophy.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The more I couchsurf, the better my travels become! Hotels are so impersonal, hostels can be fun but for a real connection and insider info, it's gotta be the people who share their homes and lifestyles.

The folks in Toronto made my recent visit so varied and interesting. And in my age-range it seems everyone is open and willing to share what they've learned and to make new friendships.

Had three very good CS experiences while travelling in NZ in December! As I was on a scheduled bus and otherwise staying in hostels, I found it was too difficult to arrange couchsurfing stays while I was on the move. All three of my stays were from contacts I made ahead of time, they all were so helpful getting me to the bus on time for early departures - and of course the personal connections were so rewarding in making my trip unique and interesting.

Intereses

Art Galleries, museums, bird-watching, and hiking in the fresh air. I like to paint in watercolour/pen & ink when I travel. Also of course I like to eat food of all kinds. Dancing is my passion (ballroom, swing, jive, etc.)

Meeting new people, having new adventures every day, exploring the world as much as I can. So many new places to see and yet some places I want to see again - agh! not enough time to do it all!

Música, películas y libros

Love em all. So many books, so little time. I'm not a good spectator, prefer to get up and move to the music...Movies: I've worked for the Victoria Film Festival annually and enjoy international films that don't follow the Hollywood formula.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Hitch-hiked around the middle east and India when I was 19, went to Baghdad, Kabul, Iran, Sri Lanka, Nepal. That trip was an amazing education for me.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I have a very visual outlook, being an artist I appreciate curiosity and style in others. When I travel I like to record places by painting and drawing and I have taught basic art skills to small groups. Currently belong to a plein-air group, we go out once a week to different locations around Victoria.
