Overview
About Me
Ross is a seventh-generation Texan, with a wide knowledge of the Texas rural landscape and history.
He is a PhD. candidate at Rice University in Houston, TX and also a professional tobacconist at the Briar Shoppe, Texas' oldest tobacco shop, specializing in pipes, pipe tobacco, cigars, and accessories. He would be happy to meet you at the shop (2412 Times Blvd. / Houston, TX 77008) and fill your ear with recommendations for food, culture, and local bars, as well as recommending travel locations in rural Texas.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In 2010, I went to England on a research fellowship. I met some incredible people, many with whom I maintain contact.
It's been seven years. My family has grown, but my house has not. I cannot accept visitors, and my schedule is packed, but I'd love to meet you at the shop or on Rice campus for recommendations about travel in Texas, and the history and culture of Texas.
Interests
I study religion and politics, from an historical perspective, and modern culture from a structural perspective.
I am also an avid pipe-smoker, and enjoy all the finer things in life.
