ABOUT ME

I travel when I can and work when I have to. I've been bartending in New York the past few years, and quit my job and moved out of the city to hit the road again. I am very relaxed and laid-back, and a generally agreeable person who is always able to go with the flow. I love meeting new people and seeing new things--really I just love learning. I could read all day, every day if I had the time, and could talk about books for hours. I also love music--I play drums and mess around a little on the guitar. I like listening to music and going to shows, hanging out or having a drink with friends.

PHILOSOPHY

The genetic odds against you even existing are astronomical--you won the lottery just by being born. Don't complain about your life.

Only surfing so far, but have had only positive experiences. Can't wait to host when I get back home!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed from Iceland to Turkey in 2010-2011, and had the time of my life. Best host I had was Bendik in Bucharest, Romania--I will never forget that week. And he just hosted my brother a couple months ago after 3 years! What a guy.

Life's three essentials...

In my opinion, the greatest movie ever made is "The Empire Strikes Back".
Favorite Directors: Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Paul Thomas Anderson, Darren Aronofsky, Christopher Nolan and Terry Gilliam.

A few of my all-time favorite bands are Bright Eyes, Sigur Ros, and Radiohead.

All-time favorite book: The Lord of the Rings. Favorite writers include Kurt Vonnegut, J.D. Salinger, Hermann Hesse and Franz Kafka.

During my first surf in Iceland, I saw glaciers and geysers, hot springs and waterfalls, mountains and volcanos--and a week-long protest outside the capitol with the biggest fires I've ever seen.
