I am Marine, from Belgium. :)

I love beers, chocolate and (of course) waffles, as a good Belgian citizen! More seriously.. I am currently doing a PhD in marine biology, especially on acoustic communication in fishes (very specific, I know; but I love it). :). I also love diving (marine life and environment are so beautiful !), photography (to see in huge tiny organisms; macro photography) and pastry (for the pleasure of my friends and family). I am not a lonely person at all. I always love to meet new people and to share experiences and/or cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It is quite the first time that I am using couchsurfing, but I have always liked so much to meet new people from around the world. I have been traveling mostly during my studies and for work. What I liked the most was to spend time with my friends everywhere and to share our way of living, habits and to enjoy every little moment that made my stay so special. So many great memories that still make me smile whenever they come through my mind or when I am telling stories !

Interests

As a marine biologist, of course the marine environment is what makes me vibrate the most ! So I spend quite a lot of time in the water :D. But I also love to discover the beautiful aerial space of our planet through hiking ! I am fascinating by wildlife but I also love going out with friends, making BBQ and enjoying the sun around some food and drinks (they say I am the glue in our group :) ). Cooking is also one of my passion. What I prefer to cook is desserts (often with chocolate) ;). But also appetizers, bread (with cheese, olives,..).

Music, Movies, and Books

I love many kinds of songs but mostly pop music and text songs. Depending on my mood, I will listen/watch different songs/movies :) !

Sun makes me so happy. I think my spirit animal should be a lizard but my friends say that I am like a sunflower :).

Unfortunately, I don't read a lot because I am always busy with many other things ! I almost only read when on vacation on the beach (which I love doing once I take the time <3).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well.. this is not 'impressive' but I think that this experience is something that really few people have the opportunity to live. I had the chance to spend 5 months in a university in Cameroon and to live in a student residence, experience student life there (classes, exams, parties). No running water but a well, cockroaches as roomates and speed race with buckets in the yard to collect water for clothes cleaning! Best memories ever :).

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak French and learned English and Spanish :). I love to speak other languages. I feel like.. communication is better and that you can also share more using the language of the country you are visiting!
