ABOUT ME

An Adventurous Tassie Devil/ Roving Albatross, lived and travelled worldwide mostly in remote wild mountainous/island locations that seem to go with my romantic poetic nature I am peaceful contented passionate nature lover living was living on a beautiful island in Bass Strait south of Wilsons Prom, between Tasmania and Victoria called Flinders Island - a real peace of heaven. Moved back to the a place I grew up in as a child the Southern Alps and Lakes of the SI of NZ. Here on the far south tip of SI of NZ you have the wild Gt Southern Ocean at your door, Stewart Island thecSouthern Alps, the Lakes and Fiordland a nature lovers paradise!

I have a great love for nature, the bush, the mountains ,the sea, peoples and other cultures, people of depth that are comfortable in their own skin.. Am very easy going, warm, level headed and open. A remote sparsely populated isle like this sorts the men out from the boys.. few distractions and simplicity of life mean "running away"from your self is near impossible.

I'm a very sensual soul that likes to be very connected to what i do. I have a very buddhist attidude. Got very ill from Multiple Sclerosis 6 yrs ago but bounced back with avengeance. I am very much a "glass half full" rather than half empty guy. Power of the mind can take you man places. Due to my illness can't travel much these days but love to share others journeys and world.

PHILOSOPHY

Nature is what floats my boat in all its shapes and froms A Buddhist at heart..... one day I found this "label" that was a close to the way I had always innately felt. I have always followed an inner path with out being to cosmic. I would rather do and live rather than externalise. I never followed convention and continue to do so never wanting to be pigeon-holed. Getting massively ill from Multiple Sclerosis ... wasnt as life changing as you might expect. It has undoubtedly change life massively, but my philosophy on life was already to encompass this life changing even.. "Stuff happen" and sometimes even more stuff happens" ... So make the very most. My condition has just helped open the eye of awareness even greater and keeps me forever mindgul

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I left home at 16 to explore the world. Was couch surfing decades before such a term became common. I never really had enough money to be a tourist as such so thus my travelling was moving to a country working and becoming part of the woodwork to really try to get under its skin. This I have done throught Northern Europe specially Scandinavia where i continually return. Having lived in remote wonderful places I have for years through the net and snail prior to that been delighted to have others to stay and show them my world and its delights and learn about theirs

Intereses

I am a big picture guy.... so its the sum total of the parts that do things for me.. whether that be life or another man.... NATURE is what floats my boat in all its guises... a few Random things that sum me up: fresh Snow, mountains,Grace Jones, fjords, Classic Cars, Tassie Alpine Flora, Albatross's, Annie Lennox, Tasmanian Devils, Cherries, Model Yachts, Viking history, Green Politics, archeaology, anything maritime, sailing, rowing, photography, colour, Calypso Music, The West Indies, tradional farming, Yorkshire Terriers (i have 3 and 4 pups!) Poetry... writing. meditation, Tibetan Culture/Buddhism... and oh so much more...

Working on a Goat farm on the Fjords or NW Norway .... Vi,ing burial mound in front of the 300 yr old Farm house .... Trolls in the woods in the summer pastures in the mountains behind .... A sense of history and connection to the land raw nature .... Heavy winter snows ..... Endless hours of summer sun.... The boiling Aurora borealis over snow and the fjord in winter!

Living on my 200 acres in the mountains and rainforests of Tasmania on the edge of the World Heritage Area. Tasmanian devils lurking in the bushes coming to scavenge at the door at night, the babbling raging river outside that door with thud of kangaroos and grazing wombats I. Surfing is a way to learn about a country and a people than can rarely be gleaned from any kind of commercial accomodation. I have travelled widely so have a good knowledge of the world that I am always willing to enlarge. I have worked in EcoTourism around the world and have a great love of tour guiding and am happy to do this in a non commercial way in my own home country....
