About Me
Hello CS community!
I'm Rowan, an Irish emigrant trying to find a small adventure for right now :)
I've always had great experiences with couchsurfing (when I shared a profile with my flatmates) before. I've not had a break or much of a chance to do what I'd like to be doing as I've been stuck at uni, so I'm really hoping to have a bit of a trip this summer and get back to hitch-hiking, volunteering, building and meeting people :)
Normally, I'm studying for a medical degree in Scotland, but I took last year off to do a Masters in Public Health in London where I lived on a wonderful little houseboat with a friend and a cat.
Fan of: live music (ex-classical musician), baking bread, drinking wine, surfing, lots more to be honest.
I'm a pretty laid-back traveler/guest - comfortable in my own company or with others, and I could probably think of a story to tell from previous travels.
Hope to meet you at some point :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Travelling for me now is really focused on the people I meet, and getting 'into' a city. Couchsurfing is the best way to go about that.
We had many couchsurfers stay with us in Edinburgh during the festival - lots of lively nights and stories shared.
I've also done a lot of workaway/wwoofing which has always worked out great.

Music, Movies, and Books
VERY keen to find live music in bars - jazz, classical, folk, pop, rock - whatever's going.
I'm an ex-French horn and piano player so can probably help teach a tune if there's an instrument lying about. Now I mainly just play a bit of guitar.
Books, poems, newspapers - all good.
Current favourite people to read would be Steinbeck, Anis Mojgani, RS Thomas, Gary Snyder.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiked Laos with an American and a Canadian we'd just met. Sitting in the back of old pickup trucks on bumpy roads through the mountains with the sun setting may not have been the most comfortable or clean journeys, but they were 100% the best.
