Overview
About Me
Hello! My name is Rowan, and I'm currently a student at Northeastern University majoring in journalism and pursuing minors in English, Spanish, and history. I love to travel – I've gone to various places in the Caribbean with my family, and in summer 2014, I spent a month in Spain, where I stayed in Madrid, Valencia and Granada. I also travel frequently with my girlfriend: we've visited New York, Chicago, Portsmouth (N.H.), Rome, and Venice. Most recently, I went on a study abroad trip that covered seven cities in five weeks — Munich, Berlin, Nuremberg, Heidelberg, Strasbourg, Brussels, and Amsterdam. (We also made excursions to six smaller cities along the way.)
Although I prefer to host female guests, all genders are welcome! Please do not be deterred by the preference listed on my profile.
I am not using Couchsurfing for hookups. Do NOT contact me if that is your reason for doing so.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a journalist, student, and long-time volunteer, I really love meeting new people and getting to hear about their lives. Everyone has a story to tell, as cliché as that may sound. I love hearing about people's lives, what people do, the people they know, what gets them excited. I hope that Couchsurfing will give me an opportunity to do more of this!
Interests
I'm increasingly interested in travel. I like to read. I love to make art, especially if it interacts with sunshine. I love talking to people. I really love to write and edit. I'm a fan of: cats, winged eyeliner, lipstick, pop punk, sidewalk chalk

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: an almost embarrassing amount of pop punk. My favorite band is Motion City Soundtrack.
Movies: The Breakfast Club, Legally Blonde, Rent (and other musicals), Juno, Enchanted, The Princess and the Frog
Books: Looking For Alaska, The Great Gatsby, Nineteen Minutes
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In twelfth grade, I was a leader in a great deal of clubs, as were several of my friends. So we had our hands in pretty much everything. Late fall, I found out that a girl I used to know had been diagnosed with a chronic illness and was raising money for a service dog. I got my friends and I together and, through our various clubs, we managed to raise about $2,500 (of a $15,000 goal). Seeing her face when she found out what we'd done was really amazing, and now, that dog is an incredibly well-trained, well-behaved, loving medical alert dog.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English language skills, since I've worked with English language textbooks. I can also help explore different writing and artistic techniques. I want to learn all about my guest's or host's life, and I'd love to share stories myself!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share food and tea. There's also a shower (you can borrow a towel), wi-fi, and basic amenities. Your bedding will be a couch with a fuzzy pink pillow and a fleece blanket.
