Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on here because
a) I've hosted a few times now and everyone I meet is repeatedly as wonderful and kind as the last.
b) I'm hoping to get off the cliché tourist path, stay a while, and really get to know a new place
c) I grew up in a small town (800 people) so community is something very important to me. CS seems like a wonderful place on its own and I think it could be a long term enriching part of my life. Not only is it full of excellent people, it's a useful tool to understand and emmerse myself in your community.

Interests

I love to play sports - always have, always will. So if there's something you want to try but have nobody to do it with or there's a sport you love to play with your friends, I'd be thrilled to join you. Really, even a game as simple as playing catch is something I could do all day. One time I was at a music festival and I missed an entire afternoon playing cricket with these aussie guys, using a tennis ball and a wagon handle as a bat. One of my fondest memories of that whole four day festival.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've read The Catcher in the Rye ten times so yeah, I love that book.

One of my true passions is movies and good story telling so if you need a good movie to watch I can definitely help you out. If I had to choose a favourite movie it would have to be Black Swan - my goodness, that's a good movie.

Some of the music I'm listening to a lot right now is Neil Young, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars (favourite music to dance to), Johnny Cash, Purity Ring, Mumford & Sons, Kanye West, Childish Gambino, James Taylor ... Honestly, any music that I can dance to is music I want to hear.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Years ago I was rowing a boat in my home town (I live on an island) and a GREY WHALE BREECHED right in front of me. It splashed my whole body, I swear we made eye contact, it was the largest living thing I've ever seen and it was soaring out of the ocean. That is an unforgettable sight.
