About Me

I'm Rosana and I was born in Cascais, a town 25km from Lisbon, Portugal, where I also live. I've always been a traveller by heart and my biggest dream is to know every single piece of land in this planet. So I have a lot to catch up on! :)

My biggest passion is learning, whatever the subject is, and I'm naturally curious about life, the human condition, other cultures and everything that is different from what I know and am familiar with. I'm quite adventurous and my drive to try new things makes me accept most challanges.. which sometimes results in me thinking that it's too late to turn back when I realise it's probably more than I can handle! :)

I've studied International Relations at University, a field of study that has a little bit of this and a little bit of that, and is something that reflects who I am: someone with a vast palette of interests, from fashion to astrophysics and pretty much everything in between :) I love History and knowing the origins of things, so I ask a lot of questions :), I teach portuguese as a second language, I host travellers in my home in other platforms and I love writing for a music webzine.

Pedro is my boyfriend and he will be travelling with me. He is a writer, a poet and a musician and, like me, is eager to conquer the world by travelling :) I'm an animal lover and I have two dogs and two cats as members of the family :)

I developed an appreciation for adventure travel and nature lately that I did not have before, so I'm also looking forward to new experiences, especially in the mountains and in the desert. And when I need to relax, I drive! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing allows for a more intense and authentic connection with the places I'm visiting through the locals and people I stay with and it is my prefered way of knowing a country. It allows me to develop a deeper knowledge and a better sensibility of where I am, and thus a better understanding of my surroundings and how life is built in these places.

I seek meaninful and deep connections throughout my life, which is something that sadly doesn't happen very often, and in the same fashion, I love to immerse completly in the culture that surrounds me. Couchsurfing is a great way to get there.

Besides meeting people in different areas of the globe, couchsurfing also opens the doors for a cultural exchange with locals that otherwise would most likely be difficult to establish. Travelling for me is mainly about learning new things, developing a connection with locals on a personal level and contact with local food and habbits. I also love sharing things about my home country and home town, and couchsurfing is an amazing way to make that happen.

Interests

I'm a person who finds points of interest in most things, but my top interests are traveling and going on road trips, music and learning and experiencing new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm quite eclectic when it comes to music, but I tend to listen to alternative rock, neo classical, electronica, industrial, world music and a lot of things in between. I'm not too keen on opera or heavy metal, but I quite like a few things in those waters.

Cinema is for me more a form of art than entertainment, so I prefer surrealism and drama movies, and I'm more keen on dense, dark and moody films. I do like the occasional comedy - Snatch is probably one of my all time favourite movies -, but it needs to be witty, intelligent and with a pinch of sarcasm :) The same goes for books :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travelled all the way to Australia by myself when I was 21 and stayed there for 9 months. Not sure if it's an amazing thing I've done, but I was quite young and it was quite an adventure travelling on my own to the other side of the world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Travel stories, my cultural portuguese background, views on life and anything really :) I'm quite easy going and flexible and find interest in most things.
