À propos de moi
CURRENT MISSION
To collect as many wonderful, random people as possible and never stop learning
ABOUT ME
As mentioned I was brought up (or maybe dragged up?) in Leicester - a city known for its socks and curries - a strange combination..... recently lived in Leeds - a wonderful, student centered, progressive city where I did my Masters & almost didn't want to leave.
Luckily for me, my parents birthed me in New Zealand, giving me the gift of a passport and I returned to the homeland in 2003 for 2 years of working and traveling, before doing the same for a year in Australia.
I am currently in Vancouver, BC, and really warming to the life here - it's not taken long to feel part of it; I've been lucky enough to be introduced to some great people and am planning to keep busy and experience plenty before I leave next year.
PHILOSOPHY
I have recently been reading up on Buddhism and going to meetings; it injects a bit of goodness into my life and helps to reassure me that there are many people out there who want to have a positive impact on the world and their fellow humans. I'm lucky to have a family that keeps me grounded and gave me a sound moral code for life.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm pretty new to Couch Surfing, but after great reviews from people I trust, I decided to join up. Having traveled myself, I know how valuable it is to meet people who are willing to give up a bit of time and extend kindness and hospitality to others.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
It's all been outside of official Couch Surfing so far, but I have graced a few sofas and enjoyed being a local guide to anyone new to a city I'm living in.
Centres d'intérêt
My two biggest passions, and the biggest influences on my social life are music and film. I really enjoy discovering new bands (if they're local so much the better) and getting out to live gigs.
Independent cinema and any film experience that moves me, inspires me or challenges me is what gets me going.
I also love to get outdoors, see nature and keep fit by walking, running, and occasionally venturing onto things with wheels or 4 legs to get around.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
Pick of my favorite movies: The Man with Two Brains (early Steve Martin - genius); Monty Python; Donnie Darko; Anchorman; Lantano; Look Both Ways; Moulin Rouge; Italian for Beginners..... generally I prefer European cinema to the big budget stuff, love intelligent or random comedy and run screaming from romantic comedy.
Music wise it's mostly indie and rock: Kings of Leon; Howling Bells; Elbow; Foo Fighters; Faithless; Hot Chip; Kasabian; Goldfrapp; Guillemots; Modest Mouse; Ryan Adams Radiohead; The Smiths... I have an extensive music collection which you're welcome to steal from.... I may inflict it on you whether you like it or not anyway!
I read as much as I can, mostly psychological thrillers, real life adventure and travel stuff.
