About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Regenerating innate practices of connection.
ABOUT ME
I'm a twenty-four old living in one of the most beautiful places in the world, doing my best to live a balanced, compassionate life.
PHILOSOPHY
It's difficult for me to summarize my personal philosophy into this space, but I always aim to be thankful for the life I'm afforded and to bring as much as I can to the needs of others and my environment. I try to speak and tread lightly, and adhere to an ever-evolving set of ideals, and I aim to embody my own philosophy as best I can and understand that philosophy makes me no more or less righteous than anyone else.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been both a surfer and a host, and have found both ends of the experience to provide their own sort of nourishment.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couch-surfed only a few times so far, but find it to be a unique and valuable experience. It's an excellent resource, both in terms of connecting with others in a new place, and finding a place to stay while traveling with little or no money.
Interests
I'm never bored; interested in just about everything to some degree. Lately it's a lot of poetry, philosophy, wildlife tracking, hiking, bicycling, rock climbing, boxing/grappling, reading, writing, listening to music, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
When it comes to movies, I tend to enjoy thoughtful, philosophical stuff most, but there's always space to lighten it up a bit too. Werner Herzog, Paul Thomas Anderson, The Coen Brothers, Terrence Malick, Derek Cianfrance, Michel Gondry, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and Wes Anderson are a few of my favorite directors.
I have pretty eclectic taste in music, and find plenty to enjoy in just about every genre, but my favorite genres are American folk, bluegrass, and blues. I listen to a lot of Jason Molina, Charlie Parr, Son House, Junior Kimbrough, early Iron and Wine, Townes Van Zandt, early Black Keys, Bill Callahan/Smog, Will Oldham, Willie Watson, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Joanna Newsom, Elliott Smith, early Modest Mouse, A.A. Bondy, and on and on.
As for books, I read a lot of poetry and American literature - especially Southern Gothic. Favorite authors include Cormac McCarthy, William Gay, Ernest Hemingway, Kathleen Dean Moore, Gary Snyder, Wendell Berry, Marilynne Robinson, Rebecca Solnit, Seamus Heaney, Aldo Leopold, Wallace Stegner, David Whyte, and Flannery O'Connor. Lately I've been reading a lot of ecology and natural history, especially presented from an indigenous perspective.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Got myself surrounded by an entire sounder of curious (and confused) wild boar in southern Spain.
