Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
I got stuck in 80s and 90s rock and alternative mostly. If it has a nice guitar solo, that would be great. If it has a nice riff, it's also great. If the riff is so-so but the imagery in the lyrics is great, it's also great.
Being Filipino, we're drowned in ballads. And as much as I hate to admit it, I listen to it too. We were programmed as a kid.
For the more recent bands/artists (non-80s and 90s), I'd listen to Florence+Machine, MGMT, Passion Pit, Ed Sheeran.
Movies:
Probably one of those where I could steal a line or two. Like V for Vendetta. Or Meet Joe Black. I did like some origin stories like Batman Begins. And I prefer Amazing Spiderman than Sam Raimi's Spiderman because it's closer to the comics. I do watch anime. And Miyazaki's Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle.
Books:
I now read business books and self-help types because it's more the ideas that i want to absorb. I used to read some fiction. I'm tempted to say that I loved LOTR books but havent finished it. I stopped after reading the Battle of Helm's Deep, which was book 2 and Sam and Frodo were walking along the boring marshes. Reflection books that I did like would be Henry Nouwen's Prodigal Son. Little Prince would also be nice. I can still be as angsty as Holden Caulfield. Will fill this out more later.
