About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finishing my dissertation! I'm going to my 5th year as grad-student in Performance Studies at Northwestern University in Chicago. My project is centered on the contemporary circus in North America. In general, I'm interested in the cultural and social aspects of the circus, and I'm traveling between Canada, the US and Mexico to attend circus performances, also to interview circus artists. I have become really passionated about circus, so I'm also on my way to train in circus techniques.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in Guadalajara Mexico. My father taught me music since very little, so I have always combined music with school or work. Before grad-school, I became the singer of several rock bands. I love the arts in general, but music is truly my passion. I have one older brother, and two younger sisters, all of them living in Mexico. I have an amazing family, and I feel very lucky about the opportunities I have had in life so far. I LOVE yoga. I love to travel. I love to meet people. I love to read and having great conversations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This year, I did a 10-days Vipassana meditation retreat in Montebello, Quebec. It has been one of the most amazing experiences in my life. I highly recommend it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I taught semiotics, cultural analysis and communication theory for many years at Bachelor level. Being a professor is one of the greatest satisfactions I had in my professional life. I'm looking forward to come back to teaching once I finish grad-schools.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm very open and easy going. Also respectful of time, beliefs and routines of people around me. I love to converse, and taking the time to know people.
Also, I'm always happy to help people to practice Spanish!
