About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discover new places and people around the Bay area!

ABOUT ME

I like to think that I am a calm and laid back person who requires minimal fuss about most things. I appreciate the good things in life - good food, fine music, interesting people, thoughtful conversations. Of course anything I say here should certainly be taken with a grain of salt - people are often more disappointingly ordinary in real life than their profile would have them believe!

PHILOSOPHY

I am a somewhat analytical person who views life as a series of problems to be solved.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Bringing some cheer into the lives of the good folk who offer me a couch, having conversations with travelers who are passing by and so forth...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I mainly surfed in Europe and that was a lot of fun! I met a lot of different people from all walks of life, with extremely divergent view points, yet I think there was a common thread running through all of them. Also I never knew meeting new people could be so much fun!

Interests

Books, mathematics, music, traveling

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies - My personal favorite would be Ingmar Bergman. Among others Tarkovsky, Kurosawa, Mizoguchi, Ozu, Godard, Herzog, Woody Allen, Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. A rather eclectic collection.

Music - Again very eclectic. These days though I mostly listen to classical music - Bach being a personal favorite. Also Schubert and Shostakovich.

Books - The Man Without Qualities by Robert Musil, Hunger by Knut Hamsun, Dead Souls by Gogol, The master and Margarita by Bulgakov

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk a lot about things that are interesting to me. I used to read a lot at one point of time and can generally hold a meaningful conversation about literature, although my reading habits have taken a dip since then. I'm also quite keen about classical music and would love to understand and appreciate some of the technical details that go into its composition.
