About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Being Remco Roobol.

ABOUT ME

I'm relaxed, like to hang out with interesting people and share experiences. You can always learn something. I'm also insecure about myself, but working on that. Results are incredible.

I just want to enjoy life with the people around me. Just stop the bullshit, respect and enjoy eachother.
Make sure you're alive while living, and learn from your dreams.

PHILOSOPHY

Live in the world but not of the world.

"Ye shit in yer pants..ye dive in it and swim" (Joe Cabot - Resevoir Dogs)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not really active at the moment when it comes to Couchsurfing. But it all started with my formal housemate Nanouk. She raved on about CS like a hurricane and dragged me in with her in her enthusiasm.
4 Days after my registration I visited a CS meeting in Rotterdam with Nanouk where mrs. Sastrowidjojo cooked us an amazing meal in a Surinamese guesthouse.
I went there to check out the atmosphere and what kind of people couchsurfers are. I met some wonderful people and had a great evening.
After that I held off for a while now I'm heading up and getting back to CS.

My participation:
- I'm a member since October 11th, 2007.
- I've had many requests, but due to work schedule and travelling never had the opportunity to actually host anyone.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Having an amazing dinner at a Surinamese guesthouse organized by the Sastrowidjojo family. Too long ago...

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
I don't know what it is, but I find it relaxing to watch bad movies. Bad heroic movies like Spiderman. The nerd gets bitten by a spider, gains superpower and eventually gets the girl he wants. Hurray!!!
Or just easy to watch movies, without a complex plot.

But every once in a while I also watch really good movies. So I'm not lost yet.

Books:
Currently: "The Art of Joyful Living" by Swami Rama

Music I like:
From Hard-Rock to Hip Hop to Jazz. I like (almost) everything. Depends on my mood what I like.

Music I don't like:
1) Gangsta rap, because it's always about big cars, guns, drugs, violence, and how the world doesn't understand the rapper in question.

2) Dutch and German "smartlap" music. Because it's just stupid :-).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Hanging under a parachute during sunset, with the sun reflecting on the river flowing 5000 feet below me, right after my first skydive above the clouds.

- Doing another skydive, hanging at 9000 feet, and the plane I just jumped out of is doing flyby's around me, not even 100 feet away from me. I could even see the pilot smiling. AWESOME!!!

- Visiting a wedding of two 70 year old people who where totally in love with eachother in Victoria, Canada.

- Riding my first wave ever on Longreef Beach in Manly, Sydney Australia.

Teach, Learn, Share
