关于我
CURRENT MISSION
My current mission is to sew all the holes in my trousers.
ABOUT ME
ALL about me? I'm a recent graduate and precarious worker in the charity sector. I love to travel and talk about other people's travel stories. I also enjoy WWOOFing, which is a network of organic farms you can work on in return for room and board. I like the smell of coffee early in the morning and talking to people in those early-morning croaky voices. I also like getting up early, but that rarely happens. I read radical political theory when I can and try to practice it every day. I like the cafe culture as a concept. One of the great joys in life is finding out that someone has my sense of humor, because then I feel like I can relax and be honest, wherever that will take the conversation at the time.
PHILOSOPHY
On life? I don't know this is kind of a vague question. On political issues I'm pretty far left. I've taken part in many campaigns and movements. I try to bring theory into practice, but it's a process. I'm not religious at all but respect other people's right to practice. I try and respect everyone's ideas even if I disagree with them (challenge ideas, respect people). I try to be open minded and exploit my youth while I still have it. By that I mean I want to experience everything in my youth that I couldn't in my old age.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have yet to put someone up in my place because I haven't really stayed in one position long enough to feel comfortable myself! I've moved about every 6 months the past few years, which is both good and bad. Currently I can't host anyone (sorrrryyyyy!), but as I'm in New York I'm free to hang out!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed informally many times, but through this website only once. I went to Vienna and had an amazing experience. The people who hosted me and two of my friends were great, warm, and outgoing. The first night they took us to a great pizza place, showed us their records, and made us coffee.
兴趣
I suppose I like most things other people do, just in varying degrees. I like radical politics and radical history. I've been involved in different political activist projects for a few years, helping with other people's groups along the way. I also like the back-story of famous people, meaning not what they're known for, but the personal side of their lives. Especially political figures and artists-like the Impressionists. Degas may be one of my favorite artists, but Egon Schiele takes the top spot. What also comes to mind now is that I like tasting new types of alcohol-wine, beer, grappa, port, you name it! Laughing, of course. Coffee. I love coffee. And wine, but I mentioned that. And in moderation, of course. I prefer conversations late into the night as opposed to going out and dancing late into the night, but I also really like doing that.

音乐、电影和书籍
Manhattan by Woody Allen. It always makes me homesick. Finding Forrester is also quite good. It has the same New York jazzy tones as Manhattan does. The film 'Reds' is a good one since it brings to life many of the political figures I admire. Regarding books, The Picture of Dorian Gray is really a great book. A Sentimental Education by Flaubert. Direct Action by David Graeber. Any Chomsky. I don't read enough fiction even though every fiction book I've read I've loved. I read mostly non-fiction, political books or philosophy books. Emma Goldman's autobiography is one of my favorite books. Music-wise, I like different sounding things. Stuff with accordions, horns, raspy guitars, croaky voices...not put together, but I'm sure it could be nice. Some surfer rock is good from time to time. The classics never get old-Rolling Stones, Taj Majal, Lightnin' Hopkins, Bessie Smith, Beatles, Tom Waits, Billie Holiday, Chet Baker. I also like The Cramps, Minor Threat, The Minutemen, Bikini Kill, Bratmobile and other punk stuff.
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
I'm very lucky to have been to a lot of places. I've been to Germany, New Zealand, Italy, France, Czech Republic, Austria, and some places around the States. I've also been to Scotland and, of course, England.
教,学,和分享
I'd love to learn some new, practical skills. Like building bikes or basic carpentry. Actually, I'd love to learn how to sew things really well so i can repair my disintegrating clothes. I'll return anything I have to offer! I can teach people basic cooking skills, maybe some academic skills, or put on a workshop on direct action, forming affinity groups, or how to plan an direct action.
