About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am travelling across the USA with my girlfriend, starting in Seattle and working my way down to Las Vegas. I am very keen to use Couchsurfing to meet locals and really experience the culture (whether through staying with them or just meeting up for a drink).

ABOUT ME

I graduated from university three years ago and have just completed the Teach First Leadership Development Programme. Although teaching was enjoyable, I am switching to a career in law which requires more time at university.

I spent the final six months of 2012 travelling through South America before moving to London to study for a further six months.

I have been seconded to Madrid with work and am currently looking to improve my Spanish during this time.

PHILOSOPHY

"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." - Mahatma Gandhi

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently participating through meeting up with fellow Couch Surfers for language exchanges.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed across South America and met some absolutely fantastic people. I intend to continue using this website in England to meet more amazing people.

Interests

Education, politics, learning Spanish, reading, movies (quite a wide variety, from action to rom coms!), ice skating, skiing, football (watching, I'm afraid I lack the skills to play) and, of course, travelling and experiencing other cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pulp Fiction, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Most Rom Coms, Indie bands - The Killers, The Smiths, Morrissey, Razorlight, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) Skiing in Zermatt in perfect conditions with amazing views of the Matterhorn.
2) Sunday evening in Retiro Park in Madrid. Bongos, beer and dancing. Fantastic experience!
3) Hvar Island and the perfect beaches and sea. Riding a 50cc scooter around the quiet island to find isolated spots. Idyllic.

In South America I've picked a favourite from each of the countries I visited. Ecuador - Galapagos Islands, Peru - The Inka Trail, Bolivia - Salar de Uyuni, Chile - Valparaiso, Paraguay - Asuncion, Argentina - Iguazu/Buenos Aires, Uruguay - Montevideo

Teach, Learn, Share

Having lived in England for 24 years (and Switzerland for one), I can share my culture with anyone interested. I want to learn the Spanish language and local idioms are of great interest to me.

I was a maths teacher for three years; so if you want a quick lesson, give me a shout!
