About Me

CURRENT MISSION

gone travelin' will be gone a while. might come back some day not too far in the future. Till then I'm a surfer, not a host!

ABOUT ME

Self centered(because if I wasn't I'd fall over). I have a great love of laughing deeply and in falsetto. I read books and have terrible handwriting. My roomie just said that I'm 'blah' but don't believe her, she's got a broken leg for a reason. Fixing things gives me great satisfaction. Have camera and am known to occasionally point it at stuff and people. Easily distracted by shiny things like tinfoil or non shiny things like rusty keys. I can tile floors and build decent tree houses that don't fall down for years. I like cheese and other foods. Slow cooking and having impromptu breakfast parties. I may seem grouchy sometimes, but this is only because I'm cranky by nature. There's more to me than meets the eye-be very grateful for this.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

A newbie so thus far I have not helped out at all really, but I will I promise! I share a dorm so theres no possibility of hosting a surf this year at least but I'm up for a coffee/beer/copious amounts of dancing in terrible clubs/sightseeing/showing off by jumping bollards.

Interests

Photography, playing tin whistle badly, people watching, acquiring new skills, tasting other peoples food, growing veggies, patting strange dogs on the head, reading, attempting artistic endeavours, confection baking

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a little bit of a nerd, I like sci-fi like Clarke, Asimov and old retro stuff from the 50's and 60's. Andrei Kurkov (Death and the Penguin) Michail Bulgakov (the master and margerita, heart of a dog) and basically I'll read anything I can get my hands on, I've only ever once failed to finish a book.

Music- 5,6,7,8's, Missy Elliot, Dead Mans Bones, The Knife, the Tiger Lillies, Ladytron, the Chemical Brothers, electrelane, Kila, Joanna Newsom, The Arcade fire, Avalanches, Coco Rosie, The Handsome family, Mark Ronson, David Bowie, Röyksopp, Beirut, Gogol Bordello, Vashti Bunyan, Johnathon Richman, Dylan, Four tet, Sigur Ros, Múm, Kraftwerk, Ratatat, The Blow, Chairlift, Twin Shadow ....and on and on

I like movies that are so bad they're good, cheesy horror, japanese horror(the original of 'ring' 'the grudge' 'the eye') and Studio Ghibli animes, Coen bro's movies, Amelie, The City of Lost Children, being John Malkovich, Scott Pilgrim, Vanishing Point, Let the Right One In (original), The Royal Tenenbaums. The Big Lebowski... too many to mention.Any silent movies- especially like going to see one with a live score.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Had my hand inside a living thing and helped to save it- I'm hoping to repeat this experience many times.

Teach, Learn, Share

baking- teaching and learning new recipes of goodness.
I can teach terrible whistle playing rather than being able to teach whistle playing terribly.
If you are willing to teach it, I'll attempt to learn it- it may take some repetition.

Countries I’ve Visited

Botswana, Iceland, Pakistan

Countries I’ve Lived In

Ireland, Poland
