About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel to countries around the world every time I have a chance to take time off from work. Enjoy life by getting to know more people and cultures specially through their cuisine. I love cooking and tasting food from different countries.

ABOUT ME

Friendly, layback, helpful, easy to get along with, thoughtful, I am more of an artist than a sports person. I enjoy listening to music, cooking, talking to people about cultural, watching a sunset on the ocean. I have always been a lover of the Ocean. I like to Learn as much as I can of the language of the places I visit and immerse myself in the culture. My goal is to work 2 or 3 months and travel for two weeks.

PHILOSOPHY

Respect for others and nature. I don't like to judge anybody or being judged. Help people around me as much as possible. I don't take anything for granted. I thank life for everything that has given me. I believe everyone has something good to share when it comes to friendship. I was an exchange student to the US for one year when I was 17 years old and what I learned from that experience after meeting people from many different countries of the world was that we are all the same no matter what color, language, religion or culture we have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can host anybody in Atlanta, USA as long as I am not traveling. I live with my wife in an apartment and we have a guest room with a double bed. We like to share our interests with people from other cultures.
We also have an Apartment in Medellin, Colombia where we go a couple o f times a year and it can also be a place for a couchsurfer to go if we happen to be there. I definitely would like to visit places around the world where I can meet local people who are also couchsurfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed in Athens, Greece and Bursa, Turkey in Sept. 2012. Both hosts were wonderful people and we had a great time.

Interests

I love the ocean and being near it, I enjoy watching a sunset, listening to music, eating local food everywhere I go, specially street food. Learning new languages wherever I go. Talking to local people when I get to a new city or place. I love to cook food from different parts of the world. I love doing and visiting art and handcraft shows. Getting to know cities by walking them instead of taking guided tours.

Music, Movies, and Books

Woody Allen movies and musicals (Broadway type). I also like most foreign and independent movies. Kahlil Gibran is my favorite author. I think I like most of the music genres except heavy metal or hard rock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a civil engineer I built a thatched house on the beach in a piece of land I own on the caribbean coast of Colombia. I have done a lot of paintings and carpentry work. I work as a Pizza cook at a restaurant in Atlanta and everybody says my pizzas are like a piece of art. I feel it that way too when I make them. I spent two weeks with the Cuna Indians in Panama in one of their islands of their reservation when I was still at the university. That was probably the most intense experience I have ever had as far as traveling and sharing cultures.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think the most important practical skill I can share anywhere I go is cooking and enjoying doing it. I can also help anyone improve their knowledge in spanish or english by practicing or actually teaching them during the stay. I would definitely love to learn as much as possible of the languages of the places I visit and the cuisine. I call my trips "gastronomical trips".
