About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel and meet!

ABOUT ME

I'm an average University student who loves traveling and meeting new people.

I was born and raised in Malaysia before coming to Canada in 2011 for university. I'm currently studying at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and majoring in Chemical Engineering (yes I'm a little nerdy). Just done with my 3rd year and I'm almost there!

I would describe myself as a person who is shy and reserved at first but fairly laid back when I get comfortable. Nevertheless, I enjoy meeting and listening to what others have to share.

Growing up in Malaysia and moving to Canada for university has certainly presented me a wonderful opportunity to experience two different cultures which has certainly broadened my perspective on life.

My dream: Taking a ride on the Glacier Express :)

PHILOSOPHY

Can't think of one yet but I love this quote

"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."

Abraham Lincoln :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Haven't traveled that much so far, so just a beginner here.
I'm hoping to meet new like-minded people during my travels through "couchsurfing" or just hanging out in the city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Still a newbie in Couchsurfing. Will update it as soon as I have one to share!

Interests

I enjoy lap swimming, snowboarding, longboarding and playing tennis or soccer whenever I'm free or the season is right. Just started snowboarding about a year ago and I've got to admit that it's certainly one of the best things that I've done. :)

Hailing from Malaysia where street food rules, I certainly love food and enjoy trying the local delicacies while travelling. I am an average cook but I do have some recipes up my sleeve from my past 'experiments'.

Lastly, traveling of course! Have little experience traveling alone since most of my travels in the past involved big groups. So, having some company during my travels would be a fun and enriching experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a rather random and varying taste in music but if I were to narrow it down I enjoy Pop, Rock, House, some folk and indie. Basically, anything that sounds good at the moment.

Like watching Drama, Adventure, Action and Comedy films. Seen all the 007 movies and my favorite Bonds are Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the Grand Canyon before my eyes and driving along the scenic coastal Highway 1 route with friends on the same roadtrip.

Teach, Learn, Share

Since I'm a huge soccer buff, I'd be happy to share or chat about the sport to anyone. A Man Utd supporter (Don't hold that against me ;) )

As for learning, I find that it would be cool to pick up some basic foreign languages from the people I meet. I'd be happy to teach some basic Malay in return :)
I'm part Chinese and and part Tamil, so it would be cool to find someone to converse in Tamil and Hokkien (Both of them are really rusty). Apart from languages, I'm interested learning about the cultures and the history behind each city or country that I visit.

I'd be happy to share some travel experiences in North American and Malaysia! If you wanna talk about chemical engineering related topics, I'd be cool with that too :P

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, South Korea, United Kingdom, United States
