Présentation
À propos de moi
Hey! My name is Ruben, I'm 31 years old and I was born in Modena, Italy with a cosmopolitan upbringing. My father is Chilean, my mother is from Lebanon and my family is scattered across the world, having uncles, aunts, cousins and close friends in almost every country around the globe.
To keep things interesting I got married to a Russian, and today we have three amazing young adults aged 7, 6 and 1 years old. As a family, we love travelling, meeting people, and discovering new cultures.
I have a really cool day job, as an entrepreneur, speaker and investor, I get to work on my passions every day, collaborate with amazing humans and have a stimulating environment around me. I'm blessed with the ultimate freedom, shaping my life at will.
My specialisms include in-depth knowledge of management and technological acumen, along with all the components required to build a successful company. As a serial entrepreneur, I channelled my energy in various endeavours, from wooden eyewear to real estate funds, specialising in turn-around management. Early in my career, I became a white-collar working for the second biggest translation company in the world, which lead me to move to Australia, United Kingdom, back to Italy and finally to Montenegro.
I serve on the boards of directors of Meer (www.meer.com), an educational hub focused on tracking cultural content and creating hi-end multimedia information, VillasLink (www.villaslink.com), a prominent European company in the business-to-business luxury rental, UMPCG (www.umpcg.me), the union of young entrepreneurs in Montenegro, Cecchi de' Rossi (www.cecchiderossi.com), an exclusive Tuscan company producing a limited number of custom-made leather bags on demand, manufactured in hand-made wine-based colours and Meersohn Marstrand (www.meerma.com), a family office and investment firm designed to pool resources and better manage investment opportunities.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
CS is an extension of what I already do on a regular basis, hosting travellers at home, meeting new people and engaging with the communities around me. I love travelling, talking and exchanging experiences. Since my sister has been using the app profusely, I met some incredible people and decided to join myself.
I'll gladly swap the comfortable hotel rooms for meaningful conversations, fun experiences and building new friendships, of course, I'll be happy to do the same when I'm at home by offering a couch to interesting people that are looking for something more than just free accommodation.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
Music depends mostly from my mood, I like every genre but I tend to prefer latin sounds, contemporary pop, french/dutch rap, old-school R&B, rock and roll and the classics.
With regard to movies, I like watching comedies, sports movies, dramas and documentaries. Recently I watched a movie with French actor Omar Sy, so I would put on top of my list 'The Intouchables'.
Lastly, I mostly read business books, my recommendation list for any upcoming entrepreneur includes 'Zero to one' by Peter Thiel, 'The art of war' by Sun Tzu, 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People' by Stephen Covey, 'Rich dad poor dad' by Robert Kiyosaki, 'Jab, jab, jab, right hook' by Gary Vee, 'The one thing' by Gary Keller, 'How to win friends and influence people' by Dale Carniege, 'Start with why' by Simon Sinek, ' The 10X rule' by Grant Cardone and a few more.
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
I would say that the most amazing thing I've done is dropping out of high-school and leaving my family to earn the right to be a man, no help, no communication and many challenges.
I was 14 years old at the time and I started working in the vineyards producing Chianti, later moved to a welding job before working in a Pizzeria as a waiter and finally using my skillset to land a job in a translation company. At 16 years old I reconnected with my family and started working towards my objective of becoming an entrepreneur.
Something else that I would consider amazing? Started a family at 22 years old, travelled to several countries, kayaking in the Amazon rainforest, swam in the Great Barrier Reef, spoke at several conferences including TEDx, failed multiple times, learned and then launched successful businesses.
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
Would love to share my life experiences, business knowledge and exchange ideas. I love practising languages and learning new things, I'm open to everything you might teach me.
Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes
Probably fun activities and good chats, every scenario is different so I'm looking forward to see what will be shared with my future hosts! It might be a pleasant dinner, a fun night out, a relaxing movie screening, a deep conversation, help you launch a business, discuss life problems or an enjoyable adventure, but I'm sure we'll have the opportunity to create a longlasting friendship.
