I was born and bred in New Zealand, but moved over to Melbourne with my boyfriend Simon 3 years ago. We have just decided to go on a large trip around South and Central America for 8 months, but we still in Melbourne for 6 more weeks and want to open up our home to other travellers.

Our plan is to travel and live overseas as much as possible before we're 30!
I have been learning Spanish since university and have a real passion for language. After I conquer Spanish I will try my hand at French!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We decided to join as we think it is a great way to meet people and gain insight into how locals live. We know we will couch surf over the next year, so we want to be able to return the favour and meet some cool people!

Interests

We love drinking coffee and beer, eating good food, cooking, reading and travelling.
Simon loves cricket and playing guitar. I love shopping at markets and running.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is a hard one..
Music, we love independent music, along the lines of the lineups from festivals such as Laneway, Golden Plains, South by South West etc.
Also digging Calypso, Afro-Carribean style at the mo, PBS has the best show called Blue Juice on a Sunday 11am - 1pm.
Anything from Flying nun records.
We always have a sweet spot for '90s music, and often find ourselves dancing to sweet tunes after a few beers.

Movies.. Anything by Wes Anderson.. foreign films. Pretty open really.

Books.. too many to list. Simon is currently reading The Secret History, and a book by Kurt Vonnegut. I have just finished Patti Smith, Just Kids and Amy Poehler's autobiography and am starting Tina Fey's.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Survived the Christchurch earthquake in 2011. Our house got demolished... but 3 months later before it did we were given 5 minutes to grab as much of our stuff as possible!

Teach, Learn, Share

We are both currently learning Spanish for our big trip, so would love to practice! We know about good beer and good travelling spots.
