Hi! I'm Ruby, nice to meet you. :)

I grew up in the United States and, all throughout my childhood, traveled to Mexico frequently to visit family. I grew up completely enamored by trips, meeting new people, living a different way, learning different dance moves... well, you get the picture! ;) I think I got the travel bug at a very young age. Flash-forward many years later, and I think my "travel bug" is more of a way of life now!

I can't seem to stay in one place for more than few months at a time, and nothing makes me feel more alive than traveling and seeing new corners of the world. The most enriching part, of course, are the like-minded people I meet along the way! If you are reading this, I am so looking forward to connecting with you, sharing a glass of wine and story-swapping. Happy and safe travels! xo

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want the opportunity of sharing my culture and experiences with others, while learning tremendously from others as well. :) When hosting others, it's been so rewarding getting to show others around my current city and take them to the real 'gems' of the city. I have been so lucky and stayed with the best hosts so far and have had really warm welcomes into their homes. I love that couchsuring allows people to connect from all over the world.

Interests

Soccer is one of my biggest interests! I have a radio show in the States and could talk sports all day long. I like going for long walks on the beach... haha.... this is starting to sound like E Harmony, but who DOESN'T love long walks on the beach?! I am a bookworm at heart and am so happy to stay in and read/blog but love socializing and dancing, too! I love going horseback riding, wine tasting, traveling, snorkeling and going to the movies. I love simplicity, I love nature, I love festivals and concerts and am spontaneous, honest, respectful and easy-going.

Music, Movies, and Books

EDM is my recent favorite, but I have a soft spot for country music and acoustic as well. My favorite artists/bands of all time include Enrique Iglesias, Coldplay, Jack Johnson and Carlos Vives... Quite a mix, eh?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first solo trip to Colombia completely changed my life; it was during THAT trip I realized I would forever make travel a priority and learned so much about myself along the way. By the way, I LOVED Colombia! If you haven't been yet, I highly, HIGHLY recommend it. As they say, "the only risk is wanting to stay."

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you English/Spanish phrases from different parts of the world... sometimes colloquial phrases vary so much and it's nice arriving someplace new and already being able to practice them! I am always happy to share my tips through different apps/organizations and my travel "secrets" with others about traveling on a budget. When something comes up that I can help teach, I would love to do so. Learning new things and being able to add to others' knowledge is priceless. :)
