About Me

ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Ruby.(Ju-Yi, in Chinese.)
I'm from Taipei(Capital of Taiwan). Now i'm a student of National Taiwan University with double major in History and International Relations.

"Helping people" is the goal of my life and i dream to work in international organizations in the field of human right and international development.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Many years ago, i bought a book which is about a Taiwanese girl traveled by CS. It was so fascinated and i started to think about knowing people in this way. To me, CS present a spirit of freedom and getting to know this world in a deeper way.

Looking back to my foreign experience, meeting people and understanding how different we all are is the best part of it. I believe CS provides this opportunity.

Interests

1. Music : I don't really have "favorite singers", it really depends on songs. Generally i like the style of Jack Johnson, Norah Johns, Emily and the woods and some Taiwanese singers. Now i'm in France so i started to listen to french songs too.

2. Movies: Same situation as music. But i can give you some example as well. (You can see in another column)

3. Studying and reading.( Okay it's crazy but it's true hahaha) I always feel calm and fulfilled when i finish a book or get new knowledge. I like to LEARN. That's also why i like TED so much.

I won't say i have a specific interest but i do like to know something new.
I'm curious about a lot of things and i'd like to meet all of you from the world and have deep talk. And according to this, i'm really bad at talking about random things and i don't like to go parties. I always feel really lost to talk in a noisy place. I did have good time sometimes, but it's with special occasions. I have my own "petit plaisir", like staring at stars, looking at cats, and have a nice cup of tea with a book. Not those big things but i feel happy with them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. I went to a small village in Vietnam and at night, my friends and i coincidently joined a local party. We were dancing around fire and there were so many stars above...

2. One year in Summer, i traveled alone in Taiwan. In the youth hostel, i met some Taiwanese teenagers who were traveling around Taiwan on foot, on scooter and on bike. We talked about everything and saw sunrise together at beach.

3. I spent Christmas with my Dutch friend and play with a dog. It was really quiet and on the field, the sky was so blue.

Teach, Learn, Share

1. Teach: I can teach you Chinese, and we can cook some Chinese food if we can find proper sauce and other ingredients.
2. Learn: Your culture and your philosophy.
3. I hope we can share everything that we both feel confortable with and interested in.
