I am a 24-year-old who lives in Toronto, Canada. During the day, I work as an analyst at an IT consulting company called CGI. On weeknights and weekends, I work on my side projects such as Time For Change and We Move Media. I am currently exploring how technology, design, and business can be effective vehicles to affect social change. And I document my journey on my blog "pragmatic idealist" at http://rubyku.com.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to be a pragmatic idealist. Simply, I see possibilities of things working in a better way and people living better lives. I get frustrated at all the things that I feel are wrong, including the fact that I lead such a privileged life while so many others suffer. HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

One of the reasons why I love traveling is because of the people I get to cross path with. Their stories always intrigue me as I learn about our diverse background and culture, yet realizing how similar we are all at the end of the day. I have received such generous hospitality while I was on the road, and would love to give back by showing visitors of Toronto why this city is amazing and make their stay feels like home as much as possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have heard about CouchSurfing for awhile but have never actually surfed at anyone's. I will be going to Austin for the weekend of April 23-25 and am looking to embark on my first CouchSurfing experience. I currently live with my parents so unfortunately I'm unable to host - but would really love to when I move out to my own place.
