About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Capturing galaxies in my pocket

ABOUT ME

Tattooed, bearded, friendly Englishman on a 35 day epic road-trip across the States. My annual outing.

PHILOSOPHY

If anyone asks me where I'm from, I say 'Earth'.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Travel, befriend

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Rather than hop across the USA on planes I always use Amtrak. It allows you to spend a bit of time with real people, likeminded travellers. I've made several friends for life and gone back for revisits, staying with friends in places I would otherwise never have been.

Interests

Night photography, timelapse, hyperlapse, railroading, BBQ, Industrial and Electronic Music, creating things. The Sky at Night.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movie: Heathers
Music: Depeche Mode, Front 242, New Order. Two Steps From Hell.
Books: (currently) Songs of Ice and Fire, yeah, lame, I know.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the vast open cathedral like hall of Portland Union Station in Oregon, everybody is going about their business. There is the low rumble of families meeting and greeting, of travellers bidding each other farewell. Suddenly, as if from nowhere, a woman, eyes closed and headphones on, begins to sing what sounds like some choir-like Irish folk song. I'm not even sure she realises she is doing it. Her song echoes around the hall and everyone stops what they are doing to listen to this beautiful voice. Then when she is finished, for a few more moments the hall is silent. Slowly people begin to go about their business again as if nothing happened. But it did. And it's a moment in my life I will never forget.
