About Me

Hello there, Travellers! I bet, that just like me, you love to know new places, new cultures, and people. And of course, travel in a low budget (I am all in favor of low-cost travel) 😅
It´s a reason why I am Couchsurfing, and I would like to host you, but FIRST, please, READ MY PROFILE BELLOW.

🇵🇹 I´m Rui Martins, born and raised in Porto, one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal 👌
I am very talkative, and fun, and love to hang out and have some drinks with my friends and surfers, a nerd for technology, and love to travel, to know new people, and live awesome experiences.

✈️ Travel was never an activity that catches my attention until 8 years ago.
Did my first travel at that time with a friend of mine to Madrid (Spain) and it was such an eye-open. See other cultures made me want to travel more and, since then, I have made some trips, some with friends, with my girlfriend, my sister, and even alone. Actually, travel alone was the most grateful experience I have done so far because I made a dream come true (go to Tomorrowland) and visit Turkey ( that I absolutely loved).

I have some travel experiences of my own and I love to hear about other experiences from different people.

I truly believe that Travelling connects all of us around the world! And a message I have for you is that you spend your time doing some travels, and chose countries with a different culture from yours.

😎 Quite an open-minded and positive person overall. Hope that you are also an open-minded person.

💻 Software Engineering degree and currently working from home remotely in a Lithuania company.
I have many side projects, besides my daily work and university. So, as you can understand, my time is quite limited. But if I can manage to find, even if a little time, I would like to take you out for some sightseeing and some drinks.

Please, if you liked what you read, CONTINUE READING.

Bellow, I present some rules for the apartment.

1. If you are requesting for more than one person, that person should also have a Couchsurfing account;

2. If you send me a request, be original. I don't say "Yes" to generic or copy-paste requests. For me, Couchsurfing it is mainly about meeting new people and sharing stories.

3. Arrival plans for your trip ( I would like to know your arrival time, so I can organize my schedule)

4. If your profile is small then I'll need an Instagram or Facebook profile as well.

5. Be clean. don't like unclean people at all.

And for now, that's the rule 😉

Some interesting fact: I have visited, so far, 9 countries.
The list below represents the 3 countries I liked most. Well, I liked all of them, but we all have favorites 😃

1st. Turkey ( Istambul and Capadocia) 🇹🇷
2nd. United Kingdom (London) 🇬🇧
3rd. Netherlands (Amsterdam) 🇳🇱

So, did you read all my profiles??
If so, I am happy 😃

If you want to send me a request, please write which are my 3 favorite countries that I have visited so far.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I originally started hosting via Couchsurfing as I wanted to help travelers who wanted to visit Porto. I expected it to be a mostly one-way street with me giving accommodation and basic advice.

I was pleasantly surprised to very quickly realize that Couchsurfing is a two-way street. I have really enjoyed spending time with my guests whether it is sharing food, going to play or having interesting conversations about any of different topics.

Couchsurfing has brought a lot of positives into my life - joy, stories, experiences, challenges, and knowledge.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most incredible thing I've ever done is to take the stage with Jared Leto at a concert of 30 seconds to mars and spend some time with him and his brother Shannon Leto on stage. Incredible and memorable sensations.

Teach, Learn, Share

Languages, Stories about my trips, tips and also information about different youth opportunities, and talk about technologies in different markets.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my couch in my home, foods, help for anything their stay experiences in Porto, and I would love to hear about them and their experiences.

Sometimes I hosted people for a considerable period of time, but, since now I share the apartment with 3 persons, and I don't want to upset them by hosting people too often, so I only host for max 3 nights.
