About Me

CURRENT MISSION

make time to reflect

ABOUT ME

I am: open to new things; trusting; naive at times; sarcastic; eager to meet new people; always on the look out for beautiful posters; curious; worried about climate change; sometimes a vegetarian; aspiring to be fluent in french; a designer; not a designer; critical of bad typography; a lover of beer + nachos; riding my bike, with a helmet on; reading; talking to strangers; hunting for a house party; carried away and excited; looking forward to meeting YOU.

PHILOSOPHY

Constantly craving/searching for meaningful experiences: to melt my heart and blow my mind!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can't stop talking to people about CS and listing reasons why they should join, whether to host people at home or use it on their next travels. I always try to host if I can. Before grad school, I set up a billeting program with the music festival POP Montréal to help match out of town festivalgoers and musicians with Montreal hosts. Last semester I also convinced three other classmates to study the CS experience with me for a 7-week project, highlights including an unforgettable spaghetti dinner party we hosted for the Chicago CS community!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had amazing experiences with CS. The chance to meet people who share the same sense of adventure and desire to connect with others is something I'll never get bored of. CouchSurfing makes my life exciting!

Hosting Erik Jönsson

Janice hosted me for three wonderful weeks in August 2009 during which many of my impressions of Montréal as a vibrant and bustling summer city formed. Many of these impressions were literally created right in Janice's back yard. To make a long story short, I arrived in a town full of strangers and left a place full of friends. Or to be perfectly precise, I never really left. I ended up finding a place of my own here. And today, Janice, her beautiful roomies and their circle of friends are what constitues my sense of true belonging in Montréal. If you ever get the chance of aquanting yourself with this charmingly ardent typologist you do best to grab it. It's a decision you're not likely to regret.

Surfing with Scott Cosgriff

Janice is a super sweet girl, all relaxed and friendly. I would venture to say it would be impossible for anyone to dislike her. She is refreshingly enthusiastic about couchsurfing and she takes up no space whatsoever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed a mountain in Cambodia to see the sunset in Dec 07 and the walk down was one of the most surreal moments of my life.

I watched a 50 person+ dance party form in front of my eyes at Jackson Square in New Orleans after the Saints won their 11th game in a row and the raw spirit of happiness and joy in that moment really made my heart swell.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a freakish interest in typography and would be more than happy to delve into it with you! I've recently done quite a bit of research on social networking which we could talk about too.
