About Me
CURRENT MISSION
bicycling, writing, thinking, and sharing.
ABOUT ME
Right now I'm spending lots of time around bikes. I somehow am managing to make a Ph.D. out of it. Life's not too bad when you can go on bike rides, fix bikes, talk about bikes, and chalk it all up as "research." I recently moved to San Diego to start a position at a university promoting humanities research.
PHILOSOPHY
I like to begin with he assumption that everyone operates with the best of intentions, even though it might not always seem that way. I mean, just do the best you can on any given day, and smile if you can. There's enough anger in the world that I'd rather try not to contribute to it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My former housemate (Jason Moore) has been pretty active on here and we've gotten some great people passing through. So I want to get more involved myself! I also met some great people through couchsuring during my research travels.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Great evenings with people on bike tours, sharing stories, homemade films, and good beer. Made some great friends.
Interests
I like conversation, running, yoga, anything to do with bikes. Sometimes I knit or make cards.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have an ungodly amount of books. It's ridiculous.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I ran the Miwok 100k trail race twice, and had a pretty good time.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach about any of these things: critical ways to view culture, how to train for running, basic bike repair.
I'd like to talk with people about how biking has affected their lives. I'd also like to speak Spanish with others (I'm a bit rusty).
