About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to explore the world, make a friend on every continent, and to laugh, sing and love along the way.

ABOUT ME

My dad was in the Army, so I grew up around the country, and due to his love of nature we always tended to camp out at national parks and cultural sites when moving from state to state. I ended up in Pennsylvania when he finally retired and after finishing high school went to college for Government and History at the University of Scranton. After trying to change the world through campaigns, I was burned out on Politics and working with community groups so I decided I needed a change. I continued a legacy in my family by becoming a 5th generation member of the U.S. Army, which has proved an interesting experience so far. I've learned how to fly Drones and I currently do so for 3rd Special Forces Group... the downside of being in a Special Ops unit is I've spent more time in Afghanistan the last 2 years than at home in the states. People tend to think of military as being unintelligent brutes, bent on American domination of the world, but I don't think I fit that mold at all. I love music, photography and long discussions about the world. I regain my freedom as a civilian in January and can't wait, because after that I'm taking a 50 day trip to Central and S. America !

PHILOSOPHY

I wish to never stop learning, exploring and seeking truth. Also, I tend to get restless when my feet are in one place to long.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a lover of history, culture and people, and will gladly show anyone around any area I live in once I've settled my feet there. If I have a couch (I currently don't), any strangers are more than welcome to crash on it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to couchsufing, but I've actually had plenty of strangers crash on my couches over the years. It seems I embraced the philosophy before I knew about it, and I'm looking forward to meeting people from all over the globe.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'd like to think my musical taste are pretty eclectic, lately i've been listening to alot of Avett Brothers and been getting into bluegrass/folk more in general. I like a wide range though, and love jamming out with strangers. Movies its hard to specify, top 5 are : Braveheart, Gladiator, the Pianist, Shakespeare in Love and Fight Club. Books, I mix between fiction and non-fiction, I will take a good true story though any day over a made-up fairy tale.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Flying over Greenland

Teach, Learn, Share

In the last 2 years I've learned how to play guitar, jump out of airplanes and fly them, I'd gladly help you with any of those tasks or get wrapped up in a long conversation about history and the state of the world.

I'm interested in learning to Scuba dive and pretty much anything else that involves outdoor adventure.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

Afghanistan, Austria, United States
