About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Tumbling around Spain, trying to pick up a bit of the language and soak in as much culture as possible.

ABOUT ME

First of all, you should know that someone else is writing this for me, therefore don't judge me by what you see here!

No, but, seriously...I'm easy-going, friendly, enthusiastic, and interesting. I'm a little bit biased toward my home country, maybe...

I go through phases. I get very passionate about different projects, but my interest wanes quickly.

I'm dysleksic and proude of it (you see, I have a sense of humour).

I'm tidy...I don't smell--unlike those camino walkers.

PHILOSOPHY

First of all, you must understand that we're talking about the vernacular sense of the word. Sorry, I know that might sound a little bit pretentious, but I am a bit anal retentive about the word "philosophy," as it is my area of study.

I'm still an observer of life at the moment. I do have a philosophy, but it's uh...personal. I don't think I'm fully capable of expressing it yet and I don't think I should belittle it by using ill-thought out words. I think I'm going to stop there before this starts getting too melodramatic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surf and host.

I do enjoy interacting with people. I have lots of stories (not all of them true). Aaaand, I'm always curious about other people's lives--snoopy, some might say. I also enjoy cooking for my hosts as an act of appreciation.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I've really enjoyed Couchsurfing and everyone's been wonderful and very hospitable. I think it's a great project and I wish to encourage it as much as I can.

Interests

As I said earlier, I hop from one obsession to another, but they generally fall in the fields of the arts and the outdoors. For example: Pen and ink sketching, stop-motion photography, collecting noises, camping, hiking, fishing (obsessed), building stone walls, growing cacti, amateur photography, painting. I like basic things, like sleeping, showering, and eating AHHH I looove eating MEAT MEAT MEAT MEAT. Emmm...I actually do like dancing, funny enough, for a guy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: A Hundred Years of Solitude. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle maintance. Anything by Hunter S. Thompson. Memoirs and Confessions of Justified Sinner. The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Cry, My Beloved Country. Daisy Miller (it has the reputation of being like a Jane Austen book, but it's not, it's sooo much more). Heart of Darkness. The poetry of T.S. Eliot and Dylan Thomas.

Music: I think the best thing for music is just to listen to my iPod. I like Modest Mouse, the Shins, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Belle & Sebastian, Goldfish, Beethoven, Paul Simon, J.J. Cale, Animal Collective, Amadou and Miriam, Brenda Fassie, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, etc. As I said, I go through phases...

Movies: Coffee and Cigarettes, Dead Man, anything by Wes Anderson, A Clockwork Orange, Withnail and I, Amelie, and I'm a sucker for Bill Murray. He's the funniest man on the face of the Earth.
