Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to travel and often need somewhere to stay. Hotels are boring and expensive. Staying with other travelers in hostels is fun, but staying with a local is the best way to get to know a place.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: most classic rock, some indie
Movies: only got into movies in a big way recently, I like a wide variety, but action films are my favourite.
Books: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is without doubt my favourite book, but I do read quite a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction. I also write sci-fi occasionally.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sailed a 72' yacht across the Atlantic Ocean as Watch Leader in a 14 man crew. One hell of a life experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach skills in rugby, and I'm handy with computers/technology and general handiwork (plumbing, fitting, electrics).
I am trying to learn french to speak, read and write. I am also trying to learn video game code for a little pet project - that's even harder than the french!
I love to have new experiences, and it is great to share these with other people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The thing I have the most of to share is time. I enjoy conversing about a broad range of topics and I have many stories to share (that I do enjoy telling). I also have an ever-expanding movie collection which I particularly love sharing, and discussing at great length with someone as interested as I am.

Most importantly, I'm happy to work a little in return for a couch and will happily do the simple chores like washing up.
