About Me

IMPORTANT: I don't live in Palma. I live in a town called Colonia de Sant Jordi, which is located in the south of the island of Mallorca, about 50 kms away from the city. You can reach Colonia easely taking a bus from Palma Central Station.

ABOUT ME

A very fun fact about me is that even though I host people for free at home, I own a real hotel.

In 2022 I quit my job, I hired a guy to manage the hotel and now I’m trying to become a Scriptwriter/Film Director.

Anyway, I don't like talking much about myself, so I will refer to some of the references that other CSers wrote about me. Of course, they might be exagerated, written under the influence of alcohol, or written in the middle of a post-holiday nostalgic crisis ;)

“Cool calm and collected” (well, this might be actually true)

"easy going guy" (typical one)

"chaleureux, attentif et ouvert d'esprit" (ah oui...)

"A free spirit, relaxed, kind, settled, somebody one can only enjoy the company of."

"Friendly, polite, respectful"

"hospitable, reliable, smart, and one has a good laugh with him"

"Talkative but good listener too"

"SPECIAL" ( I hope in a good way) hehe

"positive, prudent, playful, peaceful person with sensual, sensitive soul” (yeeeah I like this one :)

ABOUT ME HOSTING YOU

Meeting and hosting new people is one of those little things that makes me feel alive.

Everytime I am asked: "how you dare hosting unknown people at home?" I always answer: "because after one nice evening with them it is all paid back". Think about it: you meet amazing people, travellers with similar attitude about life, people that you normally don't meet in the streets or at work. And they come directly to your place. You don't meet them for 5 minutes in a random place, so you have enough time to learn, to share experiences, to taste some international dishes, to discover where you want to travel next,... And i'm only talking about hosting people during my "normal day life" with work, worries and all that stuff. Imagine how great it is to surf these amazing people's couches and being on holidays at the same time ;)

Nevertheless, I'm no mother Theresa of Calcuta, willing to help all poor souls finding a roof over their heads. I need at least this nice evening at the balcony, for example, as payback. That would be enough.

Here some master requests that you can copy/paste and send to me and to 100 other hosts, if you want to be refused every single time:

"Hi man! I found a Ryanair flight to Mallorca for 1 Euro and I saw you are an easygoing and openminded guy. Can you host me, so I don't have to pay a hotel? I have no money for food, even not for water, just for cigarettes and beer. Thank you! It would be great that you could host me, so I can have 1 week holidays for 5 Euro. Once I'm back home, I will brag in front of my friends about how cool and smart I am."

"Hi there! we are 5 or 6 or 7 nice girls/guys from Partyland. We are heading to Mallorca this afternoon. Yeaaah we are so crazy! We want to enjoy the sun and the nightlife in Palma. We just need a place to crash. We don't want to create any trouble. You might even not see us for the whole time"

If you are looking for a place to crash, at a very good price (cause you are a bit broke) but you are not sure about this CS thing, having to share the same apartment with strangers, ... then maybe CS is not for you. No problem. I understand. There is plenty of people in my family that would never join CS! :)

If you are like this, just tell me so. No shame. I might have a room at a good price at my hotel.

PHILOSOPHY

Waiting for somebody else to start a revolution... and then maybe join it. Meanwhile, trying to enjoy life as it comes, respecting all living souls, interacting with locals anywhere I go.

I might not be a revolutionary, but I like this:

"Nosotros nacimos de la noche. En ella vivimos. Moriremos en ella.
Pero la luz será mañana para los demás, para todos aquellos que hoy lloran la noche.
Para quienes se niega el día. Para quienes es regalo la muerte. Para quienes está prohibida la vida.
Para todos la luz. Para todos todo.
Para nosotros la alegre rebeldía. Para nosotros nada."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

After so many years hosting and travelling, I have become quite selective about who stays at my place. Also, I have changed my perspective about this community. I guess the community has also changed. I feel that this naive thrill that I had about meeting fellow travellers and share stories, has now turned into something more “professional”.

Well, if you understand what I mean, I will probably host you, so we can discuss about this subject in person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once, in my Kitchen, I threw a candy envelope into a cup that was standing 3 meters away from me. And I did it twice!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I like teaching spanish and catalan and discuss about language and cultural curiosities.

Learn: different life options I never heard of, interesting projects, culture, language…

Share? Drinks, dreams and stories

I like sharing music as well. I started a list of my guests' favorite songs on a notebook.

Actually, if you want to copy/paste on your couch request a link to your favorite song, you would have greater chances of being hosted by me :)) Of course there is the risk that I hate the song you send me ... in that case you would have less chances ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I live in a town called Colonia de Sant Jordi, which is located in the south of Mallorca, about 50 kms away from Palma city. You can reach Colonia easely taking a bus from Palma Central Station.

During most weekends you will find me driving around the island on my campervan. I have hosted a bunch of CSers in the campervan too.

Monday to Thursday I’m in Colonia, which is a very nice town, with the most beautiful and unspoilt beaches of the island and some other amazing attractions as the "Archipelago of Cabrera National Parc".

I live alone in a flat. 2 bedrooms (one for me and one for guests).

I don't smoke. If you do so, you can die slowly in the balcony while observing the mediterranean sunset.

Don't bring cats cause I'm a bit allergic ;)It's not too bad, I can be with them in the same room, and actually I like them, I just have a tickle in my nose and throat when I touch them.

I'm also allergic to prawns (schrimps), but I guess nobody will bring prawns as pets (nevertheless, lobsters are wellcome, specially during dinner time ;).

I normally attemp, at least once, to have dinner with my guests and chat about life and miracles.

When I have some time, I enjoy showing people around town and make some car trips to nearby towns and beaches. When I show places around I like getting some feedback, like, for example, "Oh you are so lucky to live in such a wonderful place!". Then I use this feedback to fight the most repeated sentence in my head: "Hey Miquel, why are you still there when you could be somewhere else in the world??!!".
