About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Transmuting pollution into solutions. Inventing awesome organic alternatives to plastic products.

ABOUT ME

Well, for the last two years I've been doing lots of hosting. Now I am the one traveling and surfing! I am working around South East Asia on various projects in full nomad style. I am a designer/inventor with a background in collaborative art. I go to communities and help them get transforming their plastic into viable and super useful ecobricks.

PHILOSOPHY

Unless someone like you, cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.

-Dr. Seus, The Lorax

I grew up reading comics about Superheroes. I feel there is alot to them. When we put our heart and mind to it, we can do some amazing things-- and we happen to live in an age that needs some amazing things to happen. Let's make 'em happen!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love meeting folks who are up for adventure and giving back to the places they visit. I've got lots going on up here around Sagada, and I have been coordinating adventures and exchanges between couchsurfers for the last two years. Like...

> We've got an awesome collaborative library project going on. Many surfers help bring up books from their country, or from Manila, to a remote school in the village of Guina'ang.

> Some surfers I send off on hikes to remote places and to meet and stay with indegenuous families and communities.

> Some surfers I setup as guests at schools and colleges where they can tell elementary students about their country, or teach computer science students about Java script.

>Other visitors I connect with local recycling projects or organic gardening to do some work in exchange for their stay.

> Hardcore hikers I send to mountains or to exotic spelunking (caving) descents. And more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was last living in the Northern Philippines where our program for putting plastic waste into bottles went from my house to one school, then to dozens, hundreds then thousands of schools. Officially we got about 10,000 schools, or a quarter of a million students ecobricking in the Cordillera Administrative District. :-) This means that ALOT of plastic is being kept out of the ecosystems there. The program continues to this day and spreads throughout DepEd Philippines nationally.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach:

-How to turn coke bottles into just about anything
-How to turn a glass bottle into a million things
-How to build a structure from the organic and inorganic materials within 1 square km.
-How to throw a frisbee or how to make one from bamboo.

I'd love to learn more of the following:
-Permaculture intricacies
-How to make a lime render
-How to mak

What I Can Share with Hosts

-Lots of stories
-Trash transmutation techniques
-How to throw a Frisboo
-Insights behind the Green Veil
