About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travelling around Mexico

ABOUT ME

I have been living and working in London on and off since November 2009. Before that I was studying and travelling.

I most recently worked in India for 6 months with a charity out there working with tribal groups in the Eastern Ghats that was inspirational. I alsoI met some brilliant couch surfers whilst out there who looked after me so well!

I have been travelling in the US, Mexico and Central America for the last 9 months, and am keen to meet people through couch surfing as I really believe it enriches your experience of a place when you connect with local people that not only can help guide you and advise you about the area, but also provide you with wonderful experiences and help give you a much better sense of the overall culture and society that you are visiting.

I have so many interests and hope to get to experience these in the different locations I travel to, as well as sharing these things with any couch surfers that stay with me. I love climbing (although I am not very good!), scuba diving, hill walking and cycling, and generally love getting out into nature.

I also love all that urban areas have to offer too, including art, theatre, cinema and going to see gigs or go out to see musicians or DJs.

I like to take life by the hands and gain as many new experiences as I can everywhere I go!

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others as you would have done unto you. I'm not a Christian but I think that this puts it nicely.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been away a lot so have not been hosting much with couch surfing, but really look forward to hosting a lot more when I get back to the UK, particularly returning the favour to some of the brilliant couch surfers that have so generously hosted me!

I can't believe how amazing everyone has been that I have met and look forward to all the new experiences that await me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met couch surfers in India, the UK and America and hope to increase the number of surfers I meet both to stay with and socialise over the coming years!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the cinema, especially world cinema and weird and wacky films. I enjoy Coen Brothers movies, Three Colours Red, Blue, White, Bad Taste, Dawn of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, Amoldivar movies, Hitchcock movies and loads more! I most recently watched a Greek film called Dog Tooth. Very strange, but very good!

I love music of all descriptions but from folk to rock, dubstep, jungle and glitchy electronica to world music!

I like books of all genres but I am currently reading Jared Diamond's 'Guns Germs and Steel' an interesting book looking at the rise of civilisations and the reasons why different regions of the World developed in different ways. Prior to that I read Salman Rushdie 'The Satanic Verses' and have recently read Arundhati Roy 'The God of Small Things' both of which are absolutely stunning poetic books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sky diving. Bloody frightening but also the most exhilarating, adrenalin rush I have ever experienced!

Riding bareback through the desert in Mali, West Africa, sleeping under the stars and staying in tiny tribal villages wondering how people manage to survive in such extreme and hostile environments.

Reaching 4800 metres above sea level and swimming in the partially melted ice in an otherwise frozen mountain top lake in the Himalayas.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk the hind leg off a donkey if thats something to share, although please feel free to interrupt me if I am going on too much!

I hope that I can teach people about my experience growing up in Northern Ireland and the UK as well as from the places I have visited over my life and I look forward to sharing knowledge and experience with the new people I meet!

Countries I’ve Visited
