About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy life, take as many holidays as possible and be happy

ABOUT ME

Because we have had such amazing experiences with hosting and being hosted I have developed a website for the past six months all about free accommodation for travellers. Couchsurfing is featured heavily through out the site plus other ideas.

http://www.free-accommodation-for-world-travel.com

We spent 18 months living on Elcho Island, North East Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia. We were working with the Indigenous community and had an amazing time learning about their culture as well as working very hard.

We love travelling and hope we'll do a lot more soon. We love to have fun with our friends, new and old. Having people over for dinner. Having breakfast on a Sunday morning on our deck with a good coffee. Often the simple things are the best.
We travelled around Europe for 6 months in 2007, from the begining of May to the end of October. We visited 13 countries and met many couchsurfers.

PHILOSOPHY

Make sure you live your dream and don't put it off. Live life to the full. Don't compromise your values or principles.
Practice random acts of kindness! You could make a significant difference in someones life. If you can help - do it.

Be the change you want to see in the world - Ghandi

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have created a group about hosting and traveling: Campervans and motorhomes. This group is for Couchsurfers who are willing to host people who are travelling in campervans, motorhomes, caravans and "Wicked Vans" etc. and for people who are travelling with a van. If you have space on you property to be able to host such a vehicle or you are travelling this way please feel free to join this group.
It enables people who are traveling on the road with their own accommodation to also enjoy the benefits of CS. It can also assist Rural Couchsurfers to experience Couchsurfing through a different arrangement. Here is the link for the group

We travelled around Europe for six months last year. We stayed with many couchsurfers and had an amazing times learning about the fantastic couchsurfing spirit which we caught very quickly. We have made many new friends and hope they will visit us in Australia.
Here is our blog is you are interested.

I feel at this time in a world of violence and hate couchsurfing shows that there are many people who still trust others and are willing to share their homes with complete strangers - but these people don't stay stangers for long as often they become very close friends.
As the Couchsurfing moto suggests - CHANGE THE WORLD ONE COUCH AT A TIME: What a wonderful way to do it.

I have developed a website about free accommodation for world travel which incorporates Couchsurfing a lot as well as other ideas - check it out

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We started a group for couchsurfing travellers and hosts of Campervans where people if they have space can host a campervan or motorhome in their driveway - a great way to extend the CS idea. There are now over 500 members.
We have also had many experiences hosting travellers and being hosted. The best thing is sharing the stories, culture and positive experience you get meeting the people. Our trip was a life changing experience. It was brilliant.

Interests

Good food, good wine, good company, cycling, craft, walking, socialising and talking about travel and culture and meeting new people. The simple things in life. Renovating property! Hoping it will create some freedom for us to travel.
