About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Write a book about a crazy Soviet-sponsored event called the World Youth Festival

ABOUT ME

I'm a good doodler, especially cartoons. I love talking to strangers about themselves, their childhoods--the good and the bad. With those who prefer to steer clear of the personal stuff, I love to chat about politics and history. If I could choose any career, I'd be a shrink.

PHILOSOPHY

It's more a challenge I give myself than a rule I live by: to keep an even keel, no matter what surprises life throws at me--good or bad.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I'm traveling through Europe, sleeping on fellow couch-surfers' couches. At the end of the summer I'll be back in New Haven, Connecticut (USA), returning the favors!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Many experiences. When I was an 18-year-old exchange student in Flanders I befriended an older guy who had friends all over the country. He used to take me on trips to meet them, and in doing so I must have slept on 6 different couches from Gent to Genk! Whenever I'm in NYC I sleep on one of 5-6 couches. The same is true for Berlin.

Interests

Cartoons // 20th century history // current events // bicycling // Soviet Union // all things Russian

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big Prince fan!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking along a beach one night on the island of Crete, I saw two things I'll never forget: first, tiny baby sea turtles crawling out of the sand and into the sea; second, two people having sex. I was 15.
