Overview
About Me
I'm short.
I'm shy.
I'm an art model.
I enjoy good stories (books, movies, comics, music).
I've become an avid Geocacher, and I cache whenever I find myself somewhere new, it helps me get to know new spaces. I find I have traveling adventures planned around this hobby more and more often.
I want to see and photograph the beauty of the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been a member for nearly a decade, but never really remember to use it before heading out on big adventures or lengthy journeys. Hoping to change this as I travel more, and meet new friends in interesting places.
My actual couchsurfing experience thus far mostly consists of visiting online friends across the United States, people that I knew and shared interests with, but had never met in person. It brought me to a number of free beds, couches, and backyard tents.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
I have fairly eclectic taste in music. It's hard to really pin down one genre or group that I'd call a favorite. I enjoy music that makes me laugh, and think, and feel, and dance. I enjoy voices with soul, and gravity, and lots of good stories to tell.
Artists I enjoy include Alessia Cara, Bjork, Bloodhound Gang, Creed, Daughter, Dave Matthews Band, Eminem, Evanescence, Hozier, Insane Clown Posse, Jewel, Jonathan Coulton, Kathrin Shorr, Linkin Park, Live, Maggie Rogers, Nicole Nordeman, Pink, Poxy Boggards, System of a Down, Tom Lehrer, Tom Waits, Uncle Kracker, and Weird Al Yankovic, but this is by no means an exhaustive list as I'm finding new work I love daily.
Movies:
I tend to enjoy darker films. I don't need a happy ending to keep me interested. I like twists and turns and directors who don't think their audience is filled with simple minded folk. I like foreign films, science-fiction, horror, dark comedy, etc.
Some films I like include The Boondock Saints, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Closer, Clue, Donnie Darko, Equilibrium, Fallen, Four Rooms, Frailty, Frida, Hackers, Hard Candy, He Loves Me... He Loves Me Not, Hideaway, The Ice Storm, Identity, Intacto, Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love, Ladyhawke, Legend, Light Years, Lucky # Slevin, The Machinist, MirrorMask, The Notebook, The Prestige, Run Lola Run, The Salton Sea, Tank Girl, Trainspotting, The War, and The Whole Nine Yards.
Books:
I think Geek Love by Katherine Dunn is as close to an absolute favorite book as I may ever get. It's a weirdly beautiful story that reminds me that no matter how different and alone we may feel, we're more the same than we often choose to see.
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is a long time favorite that reminds me to cultivate meaningful relationships and connections with those around me, and to cling to worthwhile words and stories.
"And he remembered thinking then that if she died, he was certain he wouldn't cry. For it would be the dying of an unknown, a street face, a newspaper image, and it was suddenly so very wrong that he had begun to cry, not at death but at the thought of not crying at death, a silly empty man near a silly empty woman[...].
How do you get so empty? he wondered. Who takes it out of you?"
I also love Mary Roach who shares all things science in a fun and humorous fashion. Neil Gaiman always inspires and enchants me. Charles Yu crafts wonderfully thought provoking stories.
I also adore children's literature, science-fiction, and comic books.
My favorite graphic novel is Daytripper by Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá. It's a story that reminds you that some things in life have meaning in a temporary way and some have lasting value.
Ongoing titles I love include Saga, Low, Black Science, and The Sixth Gun.
Rick Remender and Brian K. Vaughan are my two favorite comic writers currently. I also adore Ben Templesmith, Jeff Lemire, and Paul Pope.
