About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Discover America! Take the time while I have it to cross the land I come from. Find new friends and ways of life.
ABOUT ME
I survived a six-month cross-country trip with my travelling partner Matt Jaskot. We'd dreamed about this trip for years and finished with college and post-college jobs. Drove and lived in a van across the US, spending a good amount of time out West and on the West Coast, heading south to north, from Tijuana to the Arctic. Had an amazing time exploring, meeting fellow couchsurfers, camping, and living a simple but intense life on the road!
Currently settled in Richmond, VA, with a new job. I'm a fan of the city, and like hosting people here.
I am open-minded and laid-back, a people person. Meeting new people and couchsurfers was an incredibly enriching part my USA road trip. I love getting to see places with hosts and having their advice.
PHILOSOPHY
Something that's always been important to me is to treat everybody with respect and kindness. I find the most rewarding and valuable experiences in my life have been when I can help others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
One incredible, extended experience with CS was when I stayed at a CS campsite with a couple dozen others at Burning Man 2010. I met some fantastic people from all over the US and Canada, friends who I'd eagerly host and some of whom remain in touch.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We couchsurfed with six or eight hosts across the West, and had positive experiences each time. It's fantastic meeting people who are energized about their environments and love showing them to others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
An experience that definitely left me awestruck was Burning Man, 2010. Awestruck is the word. I grew a lot that week and met some fantastic people from across the US and Canada, and I want to go back in the next few years. Now that I get what it's about, I'd like to contribute more!
My friend and I drove from San Diego to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Driving the Dalton Highway, alone except for the occasional trucks, elk, raging, untouched glacial rivers, and multicolor moss was a surreal experience. We went during the summer months of perpetual daylight, and we ventured off the road for some backcountry hikes, wading streams and climbing to vantage points, keeping moving to avoid the mosquitoes. Finally reaching the makeshift village on the coast (industrial oil fields taken over by the oil companies) was a letdown, but I can say I stepped into the Arctic!
