ABOUT ME

My name is Rob. I enjoy camping, traveling, snowboarding, music - I am a music junkie - movies, reading, and people. Living my life to the fullest is my primary objective and I seek to do that as much as possible. For me, its all about pursuing my dreams and finding happiness, even if only for a short time - after all, the sweet is never as sweet without the sour.

PHILOSOPHY

I have many philosophies. As I travel through life I find things that represent how I feel. All aspects of life need to be appreciated, even the negative because 'the sweet is never as sweet without the sour.' Nature is under appreciated. Too many people spend their time in other places looking for things that remind them of home. In that search they miss the opportunity to find out who they really are in this world.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am open to meeting travelers for a bite to eat or a coffee or drink, and showing them the city. I also initiate couch surfing to meet fellow travelers when I'm on the road, so to speak.

I've met couch surfers while traveling and I've taken fellow CSers around Chicago.

Music, Movies, and Books

Tiesto, Armin Van Burren, Thrillseekers, Thievery Corporation, M83, almost all electronic music (trance, ambient, drum and bass, chill), dub like Fat Freddy's Drop, Bob Marley, and Easy Star All Stars. Rock like the Rolling Stones, the Doors, Pink Floyd, Rage Against the Machine (I just saw them at Lollapalooza), Sublime and Slightly Stoopid, the Smashing Pumpkins, Modest Mouse, Led Zeppelin, Band of Horses, and Dropkick Murphys. Hip hop like Atmosphere, Kanye West, Common, A Tribe Called Quest, and Murs. I also like Salsa music, the blues, and lounge music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bungee jumping in New Zealand, snorkeling in Fiji, sailing, whitewater rafting in Croatia (and the States, of course), zip lining in Costa Rica, worked at a Boy Scout camp for three summers, slept under the stars, swam in the crystal clear waters at Mykonos, broke my collarbone while snowboarding on Mt Hutt, NZ. I go to concerts, Oktoberfest (in Wisconsin), and I like to see the fireworks over Lake Michigan. I've hiked the Rockies in Colorado and the Superstition mountains in Arizona.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an Eagle Scout so there's that, but I'm not really sure what else to put here. I know a little bit about everything and I'm always learning more. I hope to teach you that there is good in everything and that life is always worth experiencing. But some people aren't ready to learn that.
