Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My sister and I are going on a five week backpacking trip throughout the UK, France and Amsterdam. Our father is English and I have been privileged to visit family several times but this will be Anna's (sister) first time. As a junior in college I lived with a retired couple in Pont-Aven France for a semester of study and it was the most inspiring, amazing experience of my life to date. I am excited to be back in Europe and get to know people on an individual authentic level. We are hoping to build connections with other Brits and learn more about our heritage!

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: i used to be an avid fiction reader as a young person. think Matilda with less powers. than i went to school my entire life and grad school ruined it for me. now i find myself latching onto articles on everything from quantum physics to an analysis of the lyrics in Truffle Butter to flipped classrooms. When I do reread the classics or aspire to read something bound along its spine, I gravitate towards food/travel memoirs (Bill Bryson), gothic novels (Jane Eyre), children's books (JK Rowling, Roald Dahl, The Giver, etc.) and non-fiction inquiries in education/science. I need to get books on tape!
Music: all the things minus country. classical, particularly baroque, will always have my loyalty. my mother is a phenomenal accompanist/pianist and vocalist, singing has always been a part of who I am and most of my childhood revolved around ballet, art and classical music. i love all classical, but my favourite piece is Ma Vlast by Smetana. Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker suite is a close second, followed by the Magic Flute by Mozart (childhood faves die hard). i also emphatically dance to house and other electronic sounds. i have several friends who dominate as djs for camp charlie from burning man. currently listening to a lot of hip-hop/rap since my kids are obsessed. nicky minaj has grown on me so much and childish gambino can get it any day :) p.s. the beatles/u2/nsync/sia/new order/tove lo/gotye/t-swizzle i dig it all. i like 3% of the country music out there. 2% is reba mcentire's personality.
TV: orange is the new black / weeds / californication / will & grace / dexter / uk skins / misfits / are you being served / monty python / all creatures great & small
