About Me

Hi there! I am a semi-nomadic kind of guy, spending half my year in St. John's, Newfoundland and the other half of the year elsewhere. I love anything active: tennis, hiking, bike touring, curling, skiing, ultimate frisbee and dance. I started a weird and wonderful cultural festival 9 years ago (Mummers Festival) and do freelance photography and communications work on the side. I did a lot of travelling through Asia in my 20s and loved walking out the door with no plan and an open mind. I made some close friends this way. I’m new to couchsurfing but have hosted and been hosted over the years before I even knew it was a thing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well I like the idea of meeting people in the places I visit and figured this might be a nice way to do so. I also appreciate all the little tips that only a local might know. Before couchsurfing existed I've had the good fortune of both hosting and being hosted by others and really enjoyed those encounters.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read almost only nonfiction. I hardly watch movies but I do like documentaries. Music...well anything with a good beat will make me move. Funk, soul, chill, pop, jazz...I dig many genres.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For about half a year, I lived on the most amazing island in BC, Canada, helping a guy work on his 1600 sq foot dance floor in the forest. I went to study dance but also had the pleasure of living in a tent on a bed of sawdust with the deer and the ravens. It was amazing to live in nature for so long.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach contact improvisation which is a form of dance that's part acrobatic, part modern dance, and part moving meditation. One of my passions for sure. I can also help you with your frisbee throw or your tennis backhand.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook and sharing food is always a good time. I’m very happy to do active/sporty/nature stuff with hosts. And can change a lightbulb or get that thing you need off a really high shelf!
