About Me

I have a pair of ice skates, a banjo, dancing and hiking shoes in my car at all times! (Got to be prepared for everything) I practically live out of my car though (brush my teeth while driving too, shhhh, don't tell anyone), but I can't spend all of my time in my car because I have two grey-haired parents who are really quite great, actually; they mostly take care of themselves and don't mind me running off out of the country, on hiking trips, or to dance competitions... unless there's snow, in which case I must be home to shovel it away! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I sleep only because I have to, not because I want to. I'd much rather fill my time with interesting activities, fun people, and good food. Why anyone would waste money on a hotel room by themselves is beyond my reasoning. Just think of all the beer you could buy with that money!

Interests

The outdoors are great! Hiking, kayaking, ice skating, biking, taking pictures... lots of pictures! Old architecture is fantastic, history, politics, geography, topography... yeah, then taking more pictures. I love to dance and pretend to play banjo.
Trying new beers, wine, and cheese is always a quest when I'm traveling too!

Music, Movies, and Books

Who said banjo? That's a great instrument!
I'm listening to Frank Turner right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nF3U_t3yjic
Who has time to read? My commitment level is currently in "science article length"
Movies: The Princess Bride, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Big Fish, Yes Man, Inception...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I thought it'd be really fun to run for City Council when I finished college...
The election went in my favor by 2 votes on election night, 5 votes in a recount, and then when my opponent hired a lawyer and convinced a judge to throw out the results and call a new election, I won by 20%.
In retrospect, committing three years to an unpaid volunteer position fresh out of college was not a financially wise decision, but I learned many things I would have never learned at a University.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach West Coast Swing dancing. If you think of classic Swing dancing/music, imagine it being less bouncy, more sexy, and with music you'd hear on the radio ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Vermont Maple Syrup!
Dance lessons, of course! :D I can lead and follow, so I can teach both roles.
Maybe three banjo songs, lol
Stories and Energy!

Beer! Vermont is now renowned for craft beer globally! Some of the highest ranked beers and breweries are just an afternoon drive away from my home. If you're a serious beer geek and there's a particular beer you're looking to try, I may be able to bring it with me if I know enough in advance!
