Overview
About Me
My name is Ryan. I was born and raised in Derry, the 4th most populous city in Ireland, located on the north coast. I spent the first 18 years of my life there, moving to Maastricht in 2015 to study Liberal Arts at UCM. My studies will concentrate on biological and environmental sciences; however, I also intend to incorporate philosophy and a contributing factor to my degree. Sustainable development of our species and the adoption of a more harmonious relationship with our planet is a foundation of my intended future path.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Living in Ireland travelling internationally , for the most part, required flying. As such I travelled either on family holidays or as part of school exchange programmes. Now that I'm living in continental Europe I have much more freedom to move around and see so much more. There is so much to be seen and so much to be experienced in our world and I want to witness as much of it as I can.
Interests
Aside from the natural sciences, I am interested in seeing the world and engaging with the people of it. Experiencing the culture, learning the history and appreciating the architecture of a place are the pillars on which I build my intentions for a destination I shall visit.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've always been fascinated by science fiction so obviously I'm a fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who and the likes. I'm also keen on the increasingly popular social-science fiction genre, encompassing The Hunger Games and The Giver. Fantasy, such as Harry Potter, Narnia and The Lord of The Rings, has been present for me, but less central.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I not all that 'amazing'.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I hope I can share a conversation or two. Conversation is one the epitomes of humanity. It was though conversation that the great strides forward were made for our kind. It was though conversation that we cured disease, built great moments, and stepped foot on the moon. Yet it is too, though conversation the wars are declared, empires established, people oppressed. This simple act of interaction can be so powerful, and yet we use it every moment of every day. Conversation can be so potent ad then so benign, and that, I think, is something to be cherished.
