Overview
About Me
Hi! I'm a linguist from the US living in Manchester with my wife Kristina, who is also on Couchsurfing. You can find her here: https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/kristina-mihajlovic-1
I work for the University of Manchester, where I am a research associate studying differences in lexical category systems (nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.) across languages. When I'm not doing linguistics, I like to read, play classical guitar, take pictures of wildlife, travel with my wife, watch movies, and learn other languages (which is not actually the same thing as linguistics, believe it or not!). I'm also a huge anime and manga fan, as well as a fan of progressive rock, Indian Classical music, and Persian music, as well as poetry and literature more generally, so if you like either of those things, we'll definitely have a lot to talk about!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was originally introduced to Couchsurfing by my wife Kristina, and we stayed with many hosts while we travelled around the US. I've found that Couchsurfing is a really great way to meet people from around the world and from all walks of life. One thing I'd like to do with Couchsurfing is to have the chance to connect with other people that I might not have been able to otherwise.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once ran 8 miles (nearly 12.5 km), and have run a 10k with my wife. I also used to run up a mountain every now and then when I lived in Tucson.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a lot about language and languages, and I can talk pretty much endlessly about that, so if there's anything you're curious about, feel free to ask! I'm always happy to share my passion for linguistics with others.
I also play the classical guitar (finger style), and am happy to talk about that or show you how to play if you're interested!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can talk pretty much endlessly about language (there's a LOT to talk about!). I'm a pretty good Spanish speaker, so if you'd like to practice or are a native speaker I'd love to speak Spanish with you! I'm also learning a few languages and would be keen to practice those too!
Outside of language, I can tell you about life in the US and the UK, and chat about music, movies, animals, anime...you name it! I'm an open-minded person, so I'm down to learn and try new things!
