About Me
Aloha!
My name is Ryan and I am just like you, an individual on a journey looking to gain the most from my experience. I grew up in a relatively small town in Indiana playing competitive tennis. I went to school on a scholarship but transferred after 1 year to ASU for a much needed change of scenery. I graduated from Business School in 2012 and moved to Los Angeles. I spent a bit of time working in Online Advertising before taking a leap of faith and dedicating myself to Acting. After many valuable experiences I changed direction again and took a job with my current company Medi-Productions, Inc. Starting in customer service I have worked my way up to managing all of our corporate accounts and leading our custom projects in U.S. I work remotely, so I can work from anywhere in the world as long as I meet my deadlines and attend certain conference calls. This unique position has afforded me the ability to travel, a passion I have put off for far too long. So here we are.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Why I'm on Couchsurfing...there are several different answers I could provide: it's a cheaper way to travel, I want my travel to be flexible, etc. But really it comes down to enriching my travel experience.
I want to meet locals and immerse myself in the true culture of the places I visit. Anyone can get hotel room or spend a weekend in a hostel on a quick trip. I want to make sure that when I spend a few days in a place I really learn what the place is. I want to know who lives there and how they live.
I want to save money and I want my travel plans to be flexible, but most importantly I want to meet people. I want to establish connections with the places I go.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I feel like everyone has done a few amazing things...but I guess one that would stand out is I died for 2 minutes and came back to tell about it. I have also published 2 book reviews in a nationally distributed magazine. I am a certified scuba diver up to 100 feet deep.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach the basics of spinning poi (still learning myself). I write poetry and short stories; I would love to share, teach, and learn more about writing. I would love to share the music that speaks to me and receive music from others. I am excel-lent in Excel (too tempting not to throw a pun in there). I really enjoy self-reflection and open discussion of social, cultural, spiritual, and existential issues. Open to much more as well.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can provide a warm and grateful presence. I can help clean and cook. I can provide a sense of humor and an honest opinion. I always bring a few extra laughs and a good tale or two to share.
